Take out the cartridges and replug them back in.

Also if you go to the printer's property page, there is sometimes maintenance tools like align cartridges.
To get to printer's property page in Windows XP goto Control Panel --> Printers and Faxes --> And right click on your printer and select properties.

SOURCE: When I replaced the black catridge #32 and

This is another very common issue and Lexmark blames the Cartridge, (Non-Lexmark cartridge).

Well, let's try this, Remove all the cartridges, Turn off the machine, let it cool for few minutes (10 minutes will do and don't forget to unplug the power cord and the usb cable).

Now turn back On again, install the cartridges (with no issues) followed by the one which is showing the error, Press and hold down the Cancel button while it's being installed. Release the cancel button when you are done. Now let it show up whatever it wants to...If you are asked to align the cartridge, Keep tapping the cancel button while and don't let it align.

If anything shows up on the computer screen, click more and uncheck the box and then close the window. Now restart the printer and check if the same message reappear or not.

Let me know if the problem persists.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I keep getting a error code 1203 what does that mean

It means your catridges overflow even from brand new catridges after several prints or right after you refilled the catridges. Check to see if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel with the catridge

use a klennex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and your printer should work again.

The refill ink work very well if you let it sit 24 hrs. Then before you print anything, you should run aligned catridges a couple times then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it looks .
Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex on those holder contact panel.

Take out the catridges clean them with a Lint free cloth (copper contacts); also clean the catridge slot of the printer; put in back the catridges ;
Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer; press and hol down the (#) and the (6) button simultaneously with one hand and with the other hand put in back the power cable; and then release the (#) and (6) button;
It will perform a reset on the printer
IF still then it doesn't work then the catridge slot's copper contacts has gone bad and need to replace

Lexmark 2500 printer problems

its very possible the new cartridge is faulty. I would suggest getting another one. Some new cartridges are acutually refurbished and just refilled and sold. Eventually they stop working correctly.

I hve a installed a new hp print catridge but it deos not print

It asks you to align it. Press ok. The printer will print off an alignment page, then you have to run it through the copy part of your printer. Then press ok, and it will run through and line things up for you.
