Question about Onkyo TX-SR674 Receiver
I'm watching a friend's house while they are away and I accidentally hit something on the receiver I guess and now there is no sound!! They have an HDMI tv, DVD player, IO cable box, and Nintendo Wii connected to the receiver. The only time I hear any sound is when zone 2 is set to video 2 (the Wii) and even then the sound isn't adjustable with the tuning dial. Please help... I'm stuck at the house for a week with no tv!! :(
Below is the sequence that I made it work
1. download the latest firmware for tx-nr801 and net-tune central software at Onkyo website as shown below:
Click on "User Identification" at the bottom
(You'll need the serial number shown at the back of TX-NR801
to download it)
2. disable firewall in your PC or notebook and start
updating the firmware for tx-nr801
If firewall can't be disable, you probably can't go through this.
This step takes about 30 min.
(There is a document showing how to do this with the download)
3. keep disabling firewall in your PC (notebook) and install net-tune central (there is similar document describing the procedure too)
4. By pressing Net-Audio on remote controller (it can switch between mServer and iRadio fucntions if you keep pressing this button)

Could well be the quality of your cables. if you have high end cables the consult a service agent. if you have the cables that came with the products, go and get some better ones.

try checking the input assignment section and go to Component Video Input. Make sure DVD and CBL/SAT has" -----" on them to prevent conflict. Hope this helps. ^_^

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.
