I have a maytag fridge (freezer on bottom) the fridge is not very cold. freezer has started to get ice near the door opening in the last week.

if you see ice near the door the door muat not be closing all the way or the gasket could be ripped, ice will form where warm and cold air are mixing together, did you remove any of the shelves or baskets in the freezer or in the fridge?i've seen people clean out the fridge and the shelves weren't put back in correctly keeping the door open, check that or food packages that might be hitting the door, when the warm air gets in it usually freezes the air ducts, this is why the fridge is warm, all that happens is the evaporator coil in the freezer gets cold, the evap fan blows the cold air from the freezer into the fridge section and then it returns through other air ducts so if warm air is getting in it will freeze up the air ducts, you can try shutting down the machine or unplug it,remove the food from the freezer and with a hair dryer hit the back inside wall of the freezer, blow the air up into the vent holes in the back wall,if you see water dripping down through the slots you have ice up in there, keep blowing the hot air up into the holes until you don't see any more water dripping,if you can remove the ice maker and remove the back inside wall of the freezer would be better.first check the freezer back wall to see if there's any frost or like snow on it,if so you could have a defrost problem, bad jazz board, this is the computer board that's behind your digital controls in the fridge section, bad defrost thermostat or heater, also do you mean the floor of the freezer has ice on it,you could have a blocked drain in the freezer.write back with more info and let me know what you find and hopefully i can help you better.

your evaporator coil behind this frost on the wall is iced up and you cant blow cold air through solid ice, remove this panel and defrost the coil, then check the defrost heating element below the coil, the defrost thermostat located on the coil or the defrost timer itself for being defective

The freezer fills with water and overflows about once a week. The food is partially frozen and the ice is clear and wet. The fridge is cold and no problems but the freezer doesn't fully freeze and water...

your evaporator coil in the rear area behind the freezer back panel is frozen over with ice and the coil can no longer deliver cold air due to ice blocking the air flow from the evaporator fan, remove this rear panel, defrost it with a hair dryer, check the defrost heating coil for continuity, they go bad regularly,if not the heater coil under the evaporator coil,it may be the defrost timer in the refrigerator section of the unit that powers the defrost coil that needs replacement

Well first of all solution # 1 pertains to household refridgerators..RV models have no fan inside maybe outside,But I would find out if it gets cold/freezes with 120 volt and or LP(propane) and look trrough the internet and download your model service manual.

The top part of the refrig keep freezing?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Amana bottom freezer problem

It sounds like the condenser coil might be freezing up. This happened to me on my bottom freezer. The cooling part of your fridge is only in the back of the freezer compartment. The cold air from the freezer blows up through a vent in the back to the fridge and comes out at the top. If the coils do not defrost (which is what happened with mine) the air flow is blocked by the ice and can't get to the fridge compartment. Your freezer will still be cold but your fridge won't. If you pull the plug on it and time things right you can defrost the coils but this will only postpone the problem. Both will work for awhile again until the coils ice up again. You can also pull out the freezer drawere and try to defrost the coil with a blow dryer. You have to disconnect the icemaker and pull out the back panel behind the freezer to get to it though.

Fridge and freezer not cold and frozen up

Can you remove the back panel inside the freezer and defrost the coils. Use a shop vac with the hose in the blow position instead of the vacuum position. And blow on the coils to defrost quickly. Hair dryers work also but prolonged use will burn up hair dryers. Now turn back on and see if the inside the freezer fan works. It should be running to keep the coils from freezing up. Also could be defrost timer. But this will be enough to get you going. Let me know how it goes. ken

Jenn-Air Refrigerator

Might be icy. First, fully defrost by either removing the rear panel and using a hair dryer (dangerous) or leave it off and open for two days. Check door gaskets and clean or repair. Clean condenser coils under the unit. Now, take off the back lower panel and find the compressor. Largest pipe is what we're interested in. Start unit. It will frost the pipe. After 5 minutes, frost should be replaced by ice, dry or wet...not frost. If still frosty, you need freon. Hard to know what the right price would be.

What else could it be? Thermostat, defrost timer. Try my stuff before going on.
