Question about Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The grinding (bearing) noise on "spin", now leaking rusty water under machine... 3 1/2 years old "Legacy" ??? NOT !

I read the McGyver reply, I have the same problem. has a bearing/seal kit for $50.35, is this what is needed ? Do you have the parts also ? I would need the same info you were going to send to McGyver.
My grandmother swore by Maytag, I swear AT Maytag ! Any information or suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Both the washer and dryer ar no more than 3 1/2 yeras old, I thought a "LEGACY" lasted forever ?!?!?!?

The washer AND dryer have been NONSTOP problems. The dryer squeeked continuously till I worked on the idler and ALL of the brake pads and retaining bolts fell off of the washer a year ago !

I can rebuild engines, dryers, furnaces, and in general fix just about anything. Question is, can I do THIS ?
One thing is for sure, I'll NEVER buy any Maytag product again.

Thank you very much,
Dave Rodkey

GE Washer Mod. WPSR3100W1WW Ser. RV120 945G Tub seal(s) defective, especially on larger load settings. Am unsure of dis-assembly process. Apparently housing must be detached and lifted off working...

yeppers to all of would be well served to grab a service manual on this item, before proceeding. Also, you may wish to enquire of GE, as to parts availability.

Loud washer! The last 5-7 minutes of the wash, the washer becomes very, very loud. This occurs in light loads as well as large loads. This just started about 6 weeks ago, any ideas?

My husband and I spent 4 hours Labor Day replacing the bearing and seal in my Maytag Neptune washer. Worn bearing are what is causing the loud noise. Maytag will only sell you the complete drum assembly. However, if you are mechanically inclined, you can purchase the bearings, 6206RS and 6207RS (we got ours from a local bearing company) and the seal kit can be purchased from There is a video on YouTube showing how to replace the bearings and seal. Our washer is now as quiet as it was when new!

The agatator doesn't move back and forth unless I hold it to one side or the other alittle with my finger then it works???

If the washer is running normally, but the agitator is slipping, then you may have worn agitator cam assembly, agitator dogs, or a loose agitator bolt. The following link explains what the dogs are, and how to access to access the bolt and replace them:

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. Most of these parts are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

NOTE: It is usually more cost effective to purchase the cam replacement kit for just a few dollars more. The kit usually includes the agitator dogs, cam bearing, cam and any washers or seals.

Read through the information provided. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

I have a frigidaire stackable washer/dryer model number FEx831cs0. The washer is working just find but the dryer for a few weeks has been making the worst screeching sounding in the world. I am not sure if...

A loose belt often makes a squeak that pulsates with the clothes hitting the paddles in the drum. It's probably the upper drum glide or rear bearing. If it's a constant screech coming from the front, it's probably the glide. If the noise seems to be in the back, suspect the bearing. You might check for a sock or something small that is stuck somewhere between the drum and the dryer.

Bearing kit:

Neither are very difficult to repair.

Other parts for your machine:

Good luck.

Drum scrubbing noise

The drum is supported by a bearing in the rear and a felt slide in the front.

Here is a picture and pricing of the felt slide:

Here is a kit including both slides and the bearing plus other stuff:

Here is an excellent website that shows you how to open the dryer up:

This is not terribly complicated to do. Contact me if you need further help with this.

Good luck.

Need to know part #'s for honda atv rear wheel, bearings and seals. part# 42650-hm4-85.

Most older Honda atv's use a 6007 rear bearing (96150-60070-10) However Parts Unlimited and Dennis Kirk sell rear wheel bearing kits with seals that have everything you need to do the job. The kit typically sells for about the price of one Honda OEM bearing and is shipped right to your door(Dennis Kirk). If you want to look up the part numbers go to and use there microfiche. They have reasonable prices if you want to place an order.
