Dryer Running Hot
Check and clean, if necessary the vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system. It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.

Hi there whirlpool dryer AWZ3413, Lights are working but doesn't start when I hit the start button. Any advise would be great thank you laura

that model number doesn't come up,open the door to the dryer, look around the opening where you put the clothes into dryer, you should see a tag with model and serial numbers, you could have a broken belt,or one of the thermostats are bad, you'll need a meter to check them but you need the model number

Have a Whirlpool AWZ3413 tumble dryer that will only run for a few minutes before the filter light goes on and the heat stops. The filter isn't clogged, but if I scrape off the tiny amount of fluff...

Here are more possible routes:

Duet Dryer Moisture Sensor Bar part WP3387223 How To Replace (See the KENMORE note below)... You MAY want to try cleaning the Sensor with a Q-Tip and alcohol! Not too much though... just a dab.

more from the Internet...

"This is most likely due to the vent being clogged between the back of the dryer and where ever it exits the house! This accounts for the light and the long drying times. A dryer not only relies on heat but also air flow to dry. if air flow is restricted, drying times get much longer since the moist air can not exit the dryer."

whirlpool awz3413 filter light keeps coming on even though

Here is a VIDEO for a similar KENMORE (Whirlpool). IF you suspect the SENSOR is bad and HOW to replace it:

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Whirlpool mod # WGD5300SQ0 gas dryer gets hot but does not stay hot Is it a thermostat or radiant sensor or something else

by all means when dealing with natural gas consult only trained professionals....as natural gas does not have an odor..the odor that you smell is an actually additive that has been place for just this reason.
