Refurbished transfer belts can be found for around 100 GBP, and refurbished fuser for around the same for this printer - try the 'usual' internet action site.

How to turn off replace fuser on display on xerox 6180


The message is caused by the fuser having had 100,000 pages or so through it.

It will be pretty much worn out, and should be replaced.

The transfer belt also has a similar pagecount limited life, and also the pickup/separation/transport rollers would benefit from replacing (they can get 'flat spots' on them

Put in a new transfer belt but can not reset the counter


The transfer belt always needs to be manually reset.
*When this part is replaced, it is necessary to reset the "life" used stored in memory. To reset the fuser and transfer roller life usage from the printers control panel: a. From the main menu select, Menu-Setup --> Maintenance --> Check other. b. Select the appropriate part name from the list by using the Up Scroll and Down Scroll buttons c. Select Reset.

Check the fuser for paper stuck in it.


Check that the 'paper out' sensor arm (in the fuser) is not broken. If it IS broken, you'll need a new fuser.

If your Xerox Phaser 6180, 6180mfp, 6280, or 6280mfp is displaying "Replace Transfer Unit" or "Ready transfer Unit Life" you most likely need to replace the transfer unit.
For the 6180 and 6180mfp the part number is 675K47088. For the 6280 and 6280mfp the part number is 675K70583.Here is a video that shows you how to replace this part. It is very easy and requires no tools.

Transfer Life Low Error on Xerox Phaser 6180


That error is caused when your transfer roller is out of life.
The transfer roller should be in front of the machine when you open the front cover. It will look like film material it is held with two plastic locks one on the right and on the left .
They maybe be colored yellow or blue sometimes.

You must manually reset the Belt Cleaner life after replacing the belt cleaner.

Resetting Belt Cleaner Life
  • Resetting the belt cleaner life is to be performed only if the Belt Cleaner Assembly was defective and or the assembly is replaced before an end of life or near end of life message. Not to extend the life of the assembly. Doing so may cause premature failure of other internal printer components.

  • The printer will prompt the user to reset the life counts if the assembly is replaced after receiving a Replace Belt Cleaner Assembly or Replace Belt Cleaner Assembly Soon message.
note_image33x30.gif    Note: If the main Menu does not appear on the front panel screen and only Replace Belt Cleaner Assembly is displayed, there may be a print job that is either processing or currently printing. Try the following steps to clear the print jobs and reset the Belt Cleaner life:
  1. Press the cancel button several times to flush processing jobs from the printer.

  2. If you do not receive access to the front panel menu by doing this, then power off the printer and disconnect Ethernet, parallel or USB cable from the printer.

  3. Turn the printer back on, and while it is powering up, immediately start pushing the cancel key repeatedly until you receive access to the front panel menu.

  4. If the printer menu appears on the front panel screen, follow the instructions below to reset the Belt Cleaner life if the printer didn't prompt you to reset it:


  1. With Menus highlighted press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Supplies Info Menu.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Exit at the bottom of the menu tree.

  5. Now scroll up to Reset Belt Cleaner Life
  6. .
  7. Press OK.

  8. Reset Belt Cleaner Life NOW is displayed.

  9. Press OK to reset the belt cleaner life.

Hi clwest: I hope that this will help you.

Transfer Roller is at End of Life
■ Print the Supplies Usage page to verify the remaining life and Transfer
Roller install date.
■ Cycle printer power.
■ If the problem persists, follow the procedure below
Note
Look at the clear plastic window on the Transfer Roller. If toner is present in the
center of the window the Transfer Roller is at end of life and needs to be
replaced. If no toner is visible, try cleaning the CTD (ADC) Sensor.
The “Transfer Roller is at End of Life” is a warning. “Replace Transfer Roller” is
a hard stop.
