Today I was checking my voicemail and phone blacked out and now the screen only shows the motorola "M" in the circle when I turn the phone on. I have taken the battery out - but it still only shows the 'M", like it is locked up somehow. Please help - Thanks!

that is the GPS indicator, which shows that your phone is GPS compatible (which is now a feature that is required by the FCC). if you look in the menu under "settings" i believe that there is a "location" setting which would allow you to select "location" or "911 only".
This is a common problem, most often fixed by calling your voicemail from another phone and checking the messages. Call your mobile, press * when the voicemail answers, and then enter your pin code. If you don't have any voicemails, leave one first, then call back from the outside line and clear them out.
This happened to my phone and I found that if I pushed in the right spot (just about the bottom of the motorola circle, bottom meaning towards the hinge) I could get the sound to come back in. Best way to test this that I found was to call voicemail and push around to find the right spot.
