Cannot include folders using Windows Live Photo Gallery Windows Live Photo Gallery is setup to allow users to specify individual folders to be included in the gallery. However, neither it nor Windows Photo Gallery will allow me to include any folders within my Windows account folder ("C:\Users\David"). For example, the most logical folder to store pictures is the "Pictures" folder for my Windows account ("C:\Users\David\Pictures"). When I try to add it, I get the following error message: "Folder can't be included in the gallery: This folder, or a folder it's in, is marked as hidden. Photo Gallery can't index hidden folders." Let me go ahead and point out that virtually everyone using either program on Windows Vista and Windows 7 has this same type of problem. The only working way I have found so far to circumvent this problem is to launch the command line utility and manually unhide both the "Users" folder and the Windows account folder. Is there really no better way to make either of these programs work? The questions I really want to ask but do not reasonably expect an answer to are these: Why not hidden folders? Why hasn't this obvious problem ever been fixed? Expecting that most readers this will want to know exactly how to circumvent the problem, here you go: 1. Click the Windows Start button and type "cmd" into Start Search. 2. Click the command line utility, "cmd.exe". 3. Enter the following commands (less quotes) to unhide the "Users" folder. a. "attrib -s -h C:\Users" b. "attrib +s C:\Users" 4. Enter the following commands to unhide each Windows account folder. a. "attrib -s -h C:\Users\[account folder]" b. "attrib +s C:\Users\[account folder]" You will need to be signed onto Windows using an account with Administrator priveledges. You must also know the names of the Windows account folders you want to enable for use in Photo Gallery and, of course, replace "[account folder]" as appropriate.

What ???
You have a very strange system. By default, the only assigned attribute to the Users folder is R and the individual user folders have no default assigned attributes.
attrib -s -h changes the attributes to not be a system folder and not hidden, but this is immediately followed by attrib +s which makes the folder a system folder. But neither Users or the user's folder is suppose to be a system folder.

SOURCE: Problem with 'seeing' edited pictures and folders when edited in Digital Image

There is a problem with file association naming! Its pretty simple if you know what you are doing! In order for your other programs to see these files you need to right click on the file and use "open with" and select the program you would like to use. That sometime fixes the problem but what you need to look for is what it says after your file name example(name.tif, name.pdf, name.jpeg)and make sure that the new computer and its software is even compatiable with the old software. Try looking for an update at the software manufactures web site. The always have a support section for customers to keep there devices/software working properly.

SOURCE: problem syncing mp3's to mp3 player with Windows Media Player

This isn't necessarily a solution, but:
Within WMP, I believe under Help, Check for Updates. Won't hurt.

Depending on your media player ... you say generic, but there's surely a brand ... you may find it "mounted," like a CD or hard disk, within your My Computer section. On my dad's Sansa, for example, you can directly copy over music files, but videos have to be converted in a certain way. There's a default structure -- that is, there's a folder for podcasts, a folder for music, a folder for movies, whatever.

Without knowing the specifics of your device, it's tough to give a good answer. Try checking for updates, and if that doesn't do anything, then see if you can get at the drive deliberately and start copying over your files yourself.

You have to backup all SYSTEM files and reinstall the OS. That's the ultimate solution to your problem.

SOURCE: Folders take too long to open

It might be too early to tell if by just cleaning the registry solved that issue you had earlier but cleaning the registry in general helps in better performance and fix error messages. Having no info about what its really fixing your best bet is to monitor it for a while and make notes when it does happen again. If it does happen again to run the registry cleaner and see if solves it again. It could also have been a missing or invalid references associated with the folder that the registry was able to clean up.

Can't upload video from camera to pc Olympus TOUGH TG-310 Digital Camera

Do you have Windows Live Photo Gallery? It comes with Windows 7, but if not you can download it here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/photo-gallery-get-started
  1. Open Windows Live Photo Gallery
  2. Connect your camera
  3. Click the Import icon in the top left corner.
  4. Select your Olympus and click import. It should import both photos and videos.

You can also try and select the videos you want using the file download module Windows displays when a new device is plugged in. If that doesn't work, try
  1. Start > Computer > Olympus Tough TG-310
  2. Then open the folders until you find the videos you want. Select them and copy them to your desktop (or any other preferred location).
I have had video issues with my Olympus TOUGH (could not delete them from the camera) which turned out to be a formatting problem with the memory card.

My dell ispiron 1564 cannot read my sony dcr-hc15e. I use windows 7. [email protected]

See this webpage for solution:
http://www.codewrecks.com/blog/index.php/2009/05/24/windows-7-rc-acquisition-from-dv-camera/

you need to install windows live movie maker and windows live photo gallery, you can download the live installer and install them both. Then you must open photo gallery ( in windows 7 the DV acquisition module is in photo gallery), go to the file menu and then, import from a camera or scanner.

I can download my pics from my Olympus C-7000 into windows photo gallery no problem, can't seem to figure out how to download the video clips i've recorded? Can you help?

I don't use the photo gallery, myself. I just let windows detect the drive, then view the files, and move them into a Folder on the Desktop. Then I rename the folder and put it in the Photo User Album. Hope this helps.
