Try using a different tv code for that same brand tv. Sometimes multiple codes will work but only 1 will work with all the right buttons.

Will a universal remote work? How to access the menu?

A universal remote can work with your TV, but whether it can access the menu depends on the specific model of both the TV and the universal remote. Universal remotes are designed to be compatible with a wide range of devices, including TVs, DVD players, audio systems, and more. However, not all universal remotes have the same features or compatibility with every function of a specific TV.
Here are the general steps to set up a universal remote with your TV and access the menu:
  1. Check Compatibility:
    • Ensure that your universal remote is compatible with your TV model. The packaging or user manual of the universal remote should list compatible brands and models.
  2. Find the TV Code:
    • Locate the code for your specific TV model in the documentation that came with the universal remote. The manual should include a list of codes for various TV brands.
  3. Program the Universal Remote:
    • Follow the instructions in the universal remote's manual to program it for your TV. This usually involves entering a code that corresponds to your TV model.
  4. Testing:
    • After programming, test the basic functions like power, volume, and channel to ensure that the universal remote is working with your TV.
  5. Accessing the Menu:
    • Most universal remotes have a dedicated "Menu" button or a button labeled with a similar term. Press this button to access the menu on your TV.
    • If there isn't a specific "Menu" button, look for a button with an icon that resembles a list, settings, or options. Sometimes, these buttons serve the same purpose.
    • If you're unable to find a dedicated button, refer to the universal remote's manual for guidance on accessing the menu or adjusting settings.
  6. Navigating the Menu:
    • Once you've accessed the menu, use the arrow buttons or navigation buttons on the remote to move through the menu options.
    • Some universal remotes may have an "OK" or "Enter" button that you can press to select a menu option.

Tv model NS-RC4NA-16

The NS-RC4NA-16 remote was included with a number of different Insignia TV models. The suffixes for the compatible TVs are available here: https://www.insigniaproducts.com/pdp/NS-RC4NA-16/9974105 . Insignia TV/DVD models with those suffixes are not compatible with the NS-RC4NA-16. A quick setup guide is available on the remote product page when you click on the Support & Downloads tab. The current link to this guide is https://files.bbystatic.com/EwxdCPik%2Fmi66olq9%2BGq6A%3D%3D/NS-RC4NA-16_14-1146_QSG_V1_ENG_FR_SP_Final_lr.pdf .

For more information on using the remote with your electronics, you might want to check the manual for a compatible television. One such TV is the NS-55D420NA16. That TV's support page is here: https://www.insigniaproducts.com/pdp/NS-55D420NA16/9003104 . The user manual for the TV is https://files.bbystatic.com/g9A76XeZ%2FqQsD64zxUp5Fw%3D%3D/NS-55D420NA16_Manual_EN.pdf . Note: the NS-RC4NA-16 is not a universal remote and can't be programmed to work with other electronics.

If you wish to program a universal remote to take over some of the functions of the NS-RC4NA-16, you can find a list of possible codes in the online guide for the TV or at http://www.insigniaproducts.com/remotecodes . To view the list on the TV, press Menu. Use the Left/Right arrows to navigate to Help. Press the Down arrow or Enter. Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Learn More. Press Enter. Again use the Up/Down arrows and go to "Remote Control Codes". Press Enter to see the list. Press Menu to go up in the menu system. Press Exit to leave the menus. At least on the NS-55D420NA16, you can do this navigation with the keys on the right side of the TV. Input becomes Enter. Volume +/- are the left/right arrows. The Channel Up/Down arrows are the Up/Down arrows. Menu is the topmost button.

I hope this helps. If you want to replace the NS-RC4NA-16, I've found it listed as available at Amazon.

I have a 2008 LG 42LC5DC. The tuner is currently set to receive a cable box feed but I'm using antennae only and want to scan over the air channels. How can I get to the setup menu?

First set the input to TV if your cable box feed didn't come in on the RF cable. Press the Input button on the side of the TV (the second button from the bottom above the Power button). Alternatively press the Input TV button on the top left of the original remote. (You'll have to search through the inputs if you have a universal remote without the feature.) Next press the Menu button on the TV or on the remote, if you have the original remote/universal remote with the matching feature. On the original remote, the Menu button is above the OK button. The Menu button is the third button from the bottom (above the Input and Power buttons). Press the Menu button and then use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Setup. (If you use the TV buttons, the Ch Up/Down buttons are Up/Down. The volume increase and decrease buttons are Left and Right.) Press the Right arrow key and then Use the Up/Down buttons to select EZ Scan. Press the Right arrow key again. Press the Right arrow key or Enter (on the remote) to launch the scan. You can find the screen shots of the Menu options and the button locations in the manual. The manual is available here: http://www.lg.com/us/commercial/documents/32lg505h-owner-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I unfortunately do not have the remote or the manual, is there a way i can increase the screen size of whats playing? its coming up square, with 2 black bars on the sides. id like to go full screen.

Without the remote, press the Menu button on the side of the TV. Select Picture Mode and then scroll to Screen Format (second item) and select that. Use the left right arrow to try different formats. Press Menu repeatedly to exit the menu system.

Use the ch + and ch - buttons to go up and down. Use the Vol + button to mimic the left arrow and the Vol - button for the right arrow. Press Menu again to select an item or for OK.

The manual is available from the manufacturer. The direct link for the English version is: http://support.ttetech.com/RCATV/Assets/PDFs/L32HD31_E001A_IB_e-08.pdf . If the direct link doesn't work, start here: http://support.ttetech.com/en-us/productdownloads.html and use the drop down menu to select 32" TV and then L32HD31.

If you would like a replacement remote, try here: http://www.rca.newremotecontrol.com/catalog_item.php?catnum=275576 . Otherwise, most universal remotes will work the basic functions if they were programmed 6 months or more after the TV was released. However, you probably will want one that can match the Format (Left arrow) button as well as the input button. This probably will not be available in the most basic universal remotes. (It is guaranteed to be in those remotes that can be programmed through a USB connection to a computer.)

I hope this helps.

I have a universal remote for a sony kv20 fv12 tv- i need to reset the channels (there are only 6 available) but i do not have the sony remote- can I somehow "run" through all the channels again?

Yes. If the universal remote has the menu button that works for your TV, you can use that. Otherwise there is a Menu button on the front of the TV. It's behind a cover panel - in the area with a headphone jack and the Video 2 inputs.

Press Menu to get the Onscreen Menu display. Press the Right arrow button to highlight Setup (it's the furthest right icon). Then press the Down arrow button to highlight Options. Press either the Right arrow button or + to select. Then navigate to Cable (down arrow) and press the right arrow or +. Then use the up or down arrow to select On (CATV) or Off (OTA) depending on your TV connection. Press the Left arrow or +. Then highlight Autoprogram and press the right arrow or + again. This begins the channel scan.

Note that this tv has a NTSC tuner (analog). You'll need a set top box with a digital (ATSC) tuner to receive most stations these days (US). Only low power stations were allowed to keep broadcasting in analog after June 2009 in the US. The changeover date is in Aug 2011 for Canada.

A copy of the manual for your TV is available here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=KV20FV12 as a pdf.

I hope this helps.
