Are you using it currentrly? What is your current Operating System? I've been searching and can't see anywhate a windows 8 driver for this scanner.
Bu let me tell you, I'm using currently a Genius ColorPage, originally released for windows 98. Installed windows 2000 driver in compatibility mode for findows XP. There is no driver for Windows XP nor for Windows 7 and coldn't make it work in Windows 7. So I run it on a computer with dual bootWindows XP / Windows 7.
When I need to scan, I simply start up as windows XP. When finished scanning, reboot to windows 7
I Have Windows 7 on a 2 Tb HD SATA and Windows XP on 200 Mb IDE. Is more economical to have a dual boot then buy a new Scanner.
If your scanner won't run on windows 8, install on another HD or a partiton, Windows 7. doual boot Windows 7 / 8 work like a dream.

Microsoft reports no drivers from the manufacturer, to try luck with the driver of windows Vista, but does not explain how to make it work.

After you download the driver, you have to run the "setup.exe" in support "Windows Vista" mode.
But before you do read the following explanation because you have to do something else before I install it, otherwise it does not work.
As I said, after trying I did not recognize the driver, I tried to take the driver manually
but windows saying that the driver was not digitally signed and you can't install if driver is not signed.
I Search the web such as disable that control and found a step in the url:

After following the steps I could install the scanner driver and HR8 works correctly in Windows 8.1

Assuming that you have the driver but not for windows 7 ..there is a possibility for this to work ,,if you copy the driver into the hard disk ...and change its properties..I never looked if there is a driver for windows 7 released by the manufacturer..but usually there are no drivers for older products..so the thing to try is like I said ..First insert the disk ..and copy its content on a location on the computer ..After that ..open the folder ..and look for the executable (install ) icon ...and click right on it ..and choose properties..and in that windows. choose compatibility ..and inside ..choose to run in compatibility with windows xp (if the driver is built for windows xp ) ..and afer that click apply ..and ok ..and run the driver..
It may give you a error ..and say it is not compatible ...and after that give you the choice to run it in compatible mode..so choose this version ..and always select to run it anyway no matter what the windows says about it ..when you finish ..just restart after you connect the device too ..(you may connect the device before installation ..but the restart may be critical for functionality ..
let me know if it makes issues and do not want to work ..

Scroll down the page until you see the ColorPage Vivid 1200x - try selecting the Vista or XP driver package and seeing if you can force it to work.

That being said I do not believe any of the Genius brand scanners are on the Windows 7 Compatibility List. ( found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/c [...] s&v=Genius )

The Windows Vista drivers for the HR7X can be found here. If they don't work, you can try running it in compatibility mode as described here.

The problem I see is that there are a few different models of the HR 7 scanner. When I check the web site I did not see any with Windows 7 support. Here is a link to the driver download page, I hope this helps.

I have the same model and problem if installing from original CD on Windows XP (the driver is old and not for XP). The new XP driver will work.
