Question about Mitsubishi VS-45605 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi #VS-45605 When tv is first turned on, the screen is filled with horizontal lines until tv is on for 30 minutes or so. After that screeen clears up yet at intermittent times screen will revert back to horizontal lines. At first when this problem appeared, the lines would clear up and not appear once tv was on for a period of time. is it a failing capacitor? [email protected]

I have a mitsubishi vs-45605 and it started with clear shaky horizontal lines that would go down the screen, then went to bigger white and gray horizontal lines a year later. Soon after, the horizontal lines would just ruin the picture for about half hour then it would clear. Couple months later it was an hour before the screen was clear. Now, it was taking more than 4 hours for screen to clear, til the other day, it stopped getting clear. I would really appreciate any info on possibly fixing it myself. Found a tv repair co. online that will come to your house and give you a free estimate...the man that came to look at it said it would be $380 to fix it and that he could do it right then. I, unfortunately do not have that kinda $, but he said it was a voltage problem, that it got a spike, like lightning spiked it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Chris

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It comes on and then it goes off

This just happened to me as well. Keep it plugged in for about five minutes without trying to turn it on. Then try. This will ultimately tell you that your convergence chip is out. If the screen comes back on, it will look distorted. This is most definantly that chip going out. I suggest a tv repair kit or trash it. Horizontal lines going from bottom to top. stopped after a while, but now its continuous.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Mitsubishi

This is a case of bad capacitors in the PIP (picture in picture) module. If you have any electronics repair experience, you should be able to do the repair yourself. Here is some more detailed instructions:

Veertical lines

Put a fan in it. Something is overheating in the unit and by placing a small fan in the back, inside the back cover, the lines disappear. Hope it works for you, it did for me.

Black horizontal lines appear after tv is on for 30 minutes

Kellia,

I had the same problem with our VS-55705 Mitsubishi. It seemed to me that this was a problem of heat.

I unplugged the TV and then took the cover off of the back of the it. I then used canned air to blow off the collection of dust from the components. Then I vacuumed as close to everything as I could without touching any of the components. I then used glass cleaner to clean up the surface of the three bulbs.

I plugged in the TV and it has worked perfect ever since. I haven't put the rear cover back on it yet. That could have been all that I needed to do to fix it. I'm too busy enjoying a nice picture to try putting it back on. Cleaning the bulbs really helped the quality of the picture.

Good Luck!
