I'm using rogers as my ISP. my rogers modem is connected to symantec gateway security 360 switch which is connected to D-link switch. i am connected to the symantec switch, and have internet connection,...

Hummm
it may be a pretty simple fix.

Connect the modem from rogers to the WAN port not to the switch port of the symantec gateway

connect the DLink switch to a switch port on the switch part of the getway and both of you should be able to get an internal IP

Dlink WBR 2310 cannot connec to internet

Try to bypass the router and connect to your modem. Make sure you have Internet connection.
>If you have Internet connection. connect back your modem to the router.
>access the configuration page of your router.
>If you are given a specific IP by your Internet Service Provider, use that one.
>Login to your Dlink (type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1)
>Click Setup and Internet > Click on Manual Configure
>My Internet connection would be Static IP
>Type in your IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary and Alternate DNS
>Click on Save Setting on top.

but if your Internet Service Provider did not provide you those informations
> Under My Internet connection Type choose DYNAMIC IP
>Click on Clone Your PC MAC address
>Click on Save Settings
>If it ask you to reboot, click on Reboot.

>At the very top click on Status
>Under Status look for WAN
>Under WAN look for IP address
>If you have values beside from zero it means you have Internet connection otherwise, call your dlink manufacturer for manual configuring your router for Internet connection.

Netgear DG834Gv3 ceased to get internet connection.

Hello!
Hopefully if you try the following steps, you might be able to get to the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps
  1. Disconnect the router, and make a call with your telephone. If this does not work, contact your phone company.
  2. Reconnect the router, checking that all cables attached to the router and computer are secure.
  3. Check that the WAN light is green or blinking green. This may take several minutes after connecting or rebooting the router. If the WAN light is off or blinking yellow, contact your ISP.
  4. Check the LEDs for the ports with cables are lit. If not, move the cable to a different port. If there are still no lights, then troubleshoot light status, as explained in the router manual.
  5. Check if the LED on the Ethernet adapter in your computer is lit. If it is not, then troubleshoot the adapter, do not continue this document.
  6. Power off the router.
  7. Power the router on again.
  8. If you still cannot log on to the router, then do a hard reset on the router, as described below in reset router.
  9. If you still cannot log on to the router, try to get assistance from Netgear at www.netgear.com.
  10. Run the router's SmartWizard. This lets the router discover whether you have a static or dynamic IP address, and whether you are using PPPoE to connect to your ISP. (For routers without this utility, go to Step 14.)
  11. If a dynamic IP address is discovered, go to Step 15.
  12. If PPPoE is discovered, configure your router with the username and password from your ISP. Click Apply to enter the data. Go to Step 15.
  13. If a static IP address is discovered, configure your router with this information given by your ISP: the IP address for your router, the address of the ISP's DNS, and the address of the gateway. Click Apply to enter the data. Go to Step 15.
  14. If the smart configuration utility does not find an IP address:
    1. Power off the router.
    2. Power on the router.
    3. Go back to Step 10.
  15. Click Test to access NETGEAR's online test page. If the page displays, then you have Internet access!
  16. If the page does not display in a minute, you may need to do something called MAC spoofing, which I listed below.
  17. Find out if the modem's IP address can be seen by looking at the Router's Status Page, as described in the manual. If not, then reboot the router and computer, in that order. Wait for the router to completely reboot before starting your computer.
  18. If the router's IP is seen, then there is a problem with your browser's settings. Your security may be set too high for the Internet service you are trying to use, or your browser may be configured for a dial-up connection. In Internet Explorer you check this using Tools > Internet Options > Security > Default Level. If the slider is set to "High", change it to "Medium". Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections. If the radio buttons in the center are greyed out, then settings for a non-dial-up connection are being used.

Reset for routers with reset button on back panel
Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password. If the router was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.

MAC Spoofing
  1. Connect the computer that your ISP's installers used to establish Internet connection to the router. If you are unsure which computer was used, call your ISP, and ask what MAC address was registered. Then, using the instructions in the box below find the computer whose MAC address matches their records.
  2. Disconnect other computers from the router.
  3. (If you do not want to disconnect other computers, you need to know the adapter's MAC address, as described in the box below. Then, in step 6, type Use This MAC Address, entering the adapter's address.)
  4. In an Internet browser type the address 192.168.0.1.
  5. Type admin for the username, password (or 1234) for the password, and click OK.
  6. Go to the Basic Settings > Router Mac Address.
  7. Select Use Computer MAC Address.
  8. Click Apply. This automatically gives the router the computer's MAC address.
  9. Click Test to make sure you are connected. If you are not connected, contact your ISP.

I tried to get everything together to try to help you out.  Hopefully this stuff will get you online!

Router Question

hello!

-- what is the brand of your modem? have you tried connecting your computer directly to the modem and check if you can get online? If yes, Internet connection is fine and the problem is on the router if not, call your ISP first and check your connectivity with them.

-- have you tried connecting your computer directly to the router without connecting the modem to the router and check if you can access the router setup page? there are some cases where in the modem and the router have same IP address that's why you cant access the setup page of the router because of IP Conflict. Try to access the router page , router not connected to the modem only on the computer and change the LAN IP address of the router to 192.168.2.1. Connect the modem to the router and try again to shut down everything and power on the devices one by one and check if you can get online.

-- if after changing the LAN IP address still doesnt work, try to check if you can access the router page by the new IP Address. Make sure that you do not have other firewall or any security enabled on the pc. If yes, try to enable the MAC Address clone on the router and check again the internet connection. Try to configure the router with a diff computer also help isolate the problem

-- if after that and it still not working last option is to upgrade the firmware of the router. possible that there is a problem with the router and upgrading the firmware normally fix internal problem. If that still doesnt work, the router is defective.
