Please get me the specs of the battery such as voltage output and mAH value so that I can tell you whether you have purchased the correct replacement. Also be aware that you have to fully charge the battery prior to first use,
The first thing to do is clean the battery terminals inside the camera. Make sure the new battery is charged. The following web blog details the things you can try to bring the camera back to life:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/simple-fix-for-dead-cameras-that-wont.html
If none of these things help, the on/off button could be bad, or many other things, and the unit will have to be serviced. Get an estimate, since the cost of repair can be high.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Sounds like it might be the disposable 2CR5 battery I bought?
Looks like I need to buy a Rechargeable LiOn, with charger don't you think?
Also is the fact there is no CF card in the camera a problem?
Bought the camera for $18.99, so I think it would be worth a few dollars in repairs if I can't fix it
As I mentioned in my previous email. I cleaned the copper terminals in the battery chamber, still no luck.
The camera was bought used and had no battery or CF Card.
I bought a disposable battery in the interim (an Energizer brand). The camera would still not power up. I have ordered rechargeable battery and charger of slightly higher m.amp hrs than the original spec. Do I also need to install a card to make it work, or should it fire up without one?
Hopefully the battery and charger should be here in a week.
