Check if the cable is properly connected. What is the operating system of your computer (win 98, win xp, vista or win 7)? Have you tried connecting it to other computer?

Windows 7 driver for160GB eGo USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive?

According to the Iomega Support web site you do not need additional drivers for using your Iomega eGo drive with Windows 7 unless you have a USB 3.0 device.

See this Iomega document on what you should do if your drive is not detected on Windows 7

EGo portable hard drive works with desktop with one internal hard drive installed, however if desktop has two hard drives eGo will not work

right click on my computer and choose manage.
computer management will appear.
go down to disk management
if you see your ego drive listed there
right click on it and choose change drive letter and paths
choose a drive letter that isn't in use like F or G.
you should now be able to browse or view the ego drive in my computer. or by going to run and type the drive letter you choose.

My Iomega eGo Portable Hard drive 500 GB main light is not showing when i plug it in through the usb drive, i think this connection may be damaged. Is a way to solve it to buy dc5v to usb cable and plug it...

Have you tried connecting it with the Firewire cable that came with it? (your pc may not have the correct port) or connecting it with a different usb cable?
Has the drive been dropped? it has a protection system which shuts the drive down when it is dropped. you may need to put the HDD into a different caddy or plug it directly into a desktop pc's motherboard to retrieve you data.
I hope this helps.

I have bought yesterday a ego portable hard drive 500gb. The drive is not detected. I have tried using different plugs and a different computer but nothing shows up????

You have to make sure that both the data cable and the power cable are connected to USB 2.0 ports. the power one is marked with a lightening bolt. xp/vista/windows 7 has the drivers in thier data base. so if plugged in correctly then will auto detect.

Need a manual for this portable device

The user manual can be found at the Iomega website, here is the specific link:

https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=14432#egoprt

Look at the portable drive section and there is an eGo link to the drive mauals.

Hope this helps.

Iomga eGo drive data back-up for Vista need transfer to Windows 7

try to connect it to another computer that runs vista, reformatting is never a good thing. the portable hould be read on any other computer, but if you connect to another computer that have vista take it off and keep it on the other computer for a little (like someone elses computer) and put it back on to the computer with windows 7, reformat it and try to put our stuff back on then try again.

Computer doesn' t recognize iomega eGo portable

a windows update may have run and killed the drivers...try rolling the system back to before the problem started, then if updates run again..and set them to download but dont install..install them yourself..run updates and see if the problem re-appears.
