Had the same problem. I have the Sony RDR VX560 which I presume is similiar. You left out one step after dubbing. You need to "Finalize" in order to play the DVD in other equipment. See System menue or read the Operating Instructions. It would probably been appropriate for Sony to put a footnote in the dubbing instructions. Oh well.

You need to make sure your imput button at the top of the remote is set to recorder, and not to the 2ndary input (video 8)
