Router works with ethanet cable but not via wireless

Hello
You need to log into the router. Then turn wireless on.

This is done at the routers homepage.Check with the manufacturer on how to log into the router.

You can also try a reset.
1 Unplug all cables to router
2 Hold small button in for 1 min, button is located in the back of router.
3 Plug power cable back in first, then other cables.

Xbox 360 setup

it way be that your modem and/or router does not recognize the ethernet cord. the contacts on either the cord or port might be fried. try plugging the xbox cord into the laptop port if the laptop is hooked up by cord or try using a wireless adapter for your xbox if the wireless seems to work fine with your laptop.

Buffalo router-WYR-GR4

you need to access your router's setup page in order to get the wep key. follow the steps below

- open a web browser and type http://192.168.11.1 on the address bar. the default username is "root" and leave the password blank
- you will be prompted with your router's page, go to the wireless settings
- then go to wireless security, there you will find your wep key or the encryption that you needed to connect wirelessly

hope this'll help and just ask me if you have other concern

ciao!

When using the Belkin G router the network connection becomes lost and can not get on the internet. My computer has Vista on it and Belkin says that the router is compatible with the program.

This is possibly caused by your firewall or the wireless security (wpa/wep) on the router if you have set it up.
First of all, if you can connect to the internet via a cabled connection the problem is going to be with the way you've set the router up.
If you've setup wireless security on the router, have you also set it up for your wireless adaptor?.
I suggest you try to connect to the internet via cable to start with, if this works try to connect wirelessly with your firewall off.
If all else fails start from the beginning again.

Connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
Make sure the router is setup correctly to your modem, if you can connect all your devices by ethernet cable to the internet then it's set.
If you are using a wireless connection and if it asks for the WEP or WPA key, make sure that you are entering the correct encryption key. You may want to call your router manufacturer to know the correct key for the wireless connection. FYI, it will say that the wireless network is connected but it will still fail the IP Address.

If you have a wired connection and the IP Address or DNS failed, I suggest you to call your Internet Service Provider to check for the Internet connection and obtain these (static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS server and secondary DNS server). If your Internet is okay, enter the IP settings manually on the console (System > Network Settings > Edit Settings > IP settings).

That should work.
