My 1997 dodge caravan will start then it will die when this happens none of the gages work, also when i am driving it the gages will quit working help this has left me sitting with the kids in the car

The instrument cluster needs to be replaced. However, it'll have to be removed to determine the color of the plug in the back. 1997 is usually red. If you hit the dash above the instrument cluster (with the key in the run position) you'll see the gauges come on (sometimes it has to be hit a few times) and it'll get you where you have to go.
