Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

The tub fills with water for the load size selected, but then the agitator will not work on my Whirlpool. Tried to move agitator by hand, but it is locked up tight. I have already replaced the time, and 3 months ago replaced the little plastic gears. I am thinking it could be the transmission, coupler, or possibly the motor had gone bad, but wanted to get a better idea before ordering parts. Thanks

Send the model number?if it's a top load washer check the lid switch,if the switch is broke it will fill and do nothing,if it's the coupling the motor will run but nothing will move, close the lid and then open it a little and close it a few times,if you don't hear a clicking sound you have a bad lid switch, you can also open the lid,set the timer on spin and with a screw driver push down on the switch on the right side,if it spins the lid switch is bad,it has to work only if you hear it clicking when you push down on it,if it don't click it's bad.let me know what you find.also if the motor is humming you could have something stuck in the pump, pull off the frame, pop the metal clips on the pump and slide it off and start it,if the motor runs you have a bad pump or something stuck in it.

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer won't aggitate

My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!

Hello.

Whirlpool washers are available in many colors and with different options, including various tub sizes, front or top load styles, a fabric care system, high efficiency wash features and energy, time and water sensors. The washers may be purchased in department stores, home repair stores and online. Many are Energy Star rated. However, the washing machine may malfunction occasionally and not agitate or spin. If this occurs, some troubleshooting steps may be useful in solving the problem.

1 sure the washer has electrical power and is connected to a grounded electrical supply. Replace or reset the circuit breaker or fuse if needed, particularly in event of a recent power outage. Make sure the washer lid is closed tightly before use; the washer won't work if the lid is open.

2 void selecting the following cycles: "Extra Low,, "Low," "No Spin", "Delicate," "Casual/Perm Press" or "Hand Washables." All of these cycles use little to no spinning or agitating during the cycle. Select the highest possible spin cycle for the fabrics being washed.

3 pen the washer lid and redistribute the load; unbalanced loads may cause the washer to stop or slow down. Add additional items if only one large item,
such as a rug or blanket, is in the washer.

4 Use only the recommended amount of laundry detergent, as excess sussing can reduce the overall spin speed or cause the washer to stop agitating. If the Whirlpool washer is a high-efficiency model, use only high-efficiency laundry detergent.

5 Examine the drain hose and straighten if kinked. Remove any possible obstructions and ensure the end of the hose is no more than 96 inches from the floor, as this will cause water to flow back into the washing machine.

Thanks.

Whirlpool Washer model # LSN1000KQ0 overfilling

did you plug the hose back into the water level switch, double check to see if it is plugged, if it is your water level switch might be defective. trouble shoot by taking the front panel off... turn on the washer by using the timer, set water level to small...on the bottom of the tub housing there should be a nipple where the clear hose connects onto.....follow the clear hose from the switch down to the bottom of the tub.........disconnect the clear hose on the bottom of the tub.....plugg the nipple with your finger.........gently blow into the hose with your mouth.......but make sure the water level in the tub is at least at half way full...and the washer is on and filling up with water ...after you blow into the hose the washer should agitate.......if it does agitate your water level switch is defective...connect hose back........get your model number and source for the switch.........

Whirlpool LXR9245EQ2 tub won't fill at beginning of cycle

HI, you have a combination issue. the Water fill level pressure switch and, the cycle selector switch are both damaged and, they should be replaced. the total cost of these switches will run you about $90.00.

We recommend the hands of a skilled service tech when repairing this type of electrical issue.

Agitator always moving

The inner tub on some machines does rotate very slowly while filling to assist with the even distibution of the load. If the agitator is turning back & forth while in fill mode, you could have a timer or transmission problem. You need a tech.
