I think I accidently disabled the option in the sound section to have speakers out of the control panel, and now I can't get any sound from anywhere except my headphones. I plugged in new speakers, and I still can't get them to work. I also don't know where to plug the new speakers in at... thanks :)

Hi, go to the Control Panel, Open it and select "Sound Manager" and choose "speaker option".

No sound on laptop hooked to pre-amp/amp

Assuming a Windows PC, go to Control Panel and locate the Sound item (Start button->Control Panel->Sound, should have a speaker logo beside it). Check the entries there and see if one of them is listed as disabled. If so, right click on it and choose enable. I would then disable the laptop speakers (so you don't have an echo from both sets playing simultaneously; right click the laptop speakers item in the Playback section and choose Disable). The go to the Sound icon in the lower right of your desktop (by the date and time) and unmute the sound. MS has plenty of help online for testing sound to make sure the devices work.

It will not recognize my sound bar the section for turn off speakers are grey out and it also doesn't see the sound bar.

If the sound bar is missing and speakers are grayed out--if using a box means a setup option there is causing this.

If in set means a similar issue---most likely is a cable box if used is disabling the sets menu for this.

You may if using a box want to disconnect all connections to the set and unplug both set and box to see if after a wait both will reboot when plugged back in.

As a last resort with the model number call Toshiba customer service.

My doughter accidently disable the sound on our laptop, How do I activate it again?

There should be 5 grey buttons at the top of your keyboard and just below your monitor. On the right there should be two with a small speaker icon, one with an X or an \ through it. Press the one with the speaker icon that has the ))) symbols coming from it to turn it back on.

If this doesn't work you should have a speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen which may have a red X on it. Right click this and select volume control options and make sure that the "Mute" boxes are not checked off and the volume levels are turned up as you desire.

GX620 power light flashes green and monitors go black. Have to hit power button to wake it up. Is this a hardware issue?

It sounds like a power management issue. Click Start > Run and type control panel. Hit enter and find the power management section. There should be an option to select how long it takes for the system to "sleep." You can disable this option, so the system won't sleep. I've included a brief how-to on the matter.

My desktop speakers not working but cable all plugged in and audio device working.

Hi tamjidzaee ,

Please follow the below steps to solve the problem that you have mentioned :-

  1. Check if the sound driver has been installed in your system, you can check this by going in the control panel's sound and audio devices option , if you find all options disabled and it reads no playback devices and no recording devices, then you have no sound driver installed. Therefore in this case you would require to install your sound driver using your motherboard cd.
  2. If you see your sound driver is installed in the audio options of the control panel and you also see the sound driver's name , then you need to check the volume in the volume settings to check if it has not been muted accidentally , if it has been muted , then please un mute it and things should work fine.
  3. A good idea would be use a headset and plug it into your motherboard in the slot where the speakers output is received , mostly the green round slot.
  4. If you have a front head phone option then you can try using it as well, if the headphone or headset works fine, then we are sure about two , things that the driver is installed successfully and there is a sound output from the audio output slots.
  5. Now, when you have checked the sound via headsets then you need to make sure that you are connecting your speakers in the green slot or the same slot which is working for headsets, remember headsets can be used to check the output in the back panel of your cabinet as well as front panel of your cabinet.
  6. Also check if there is any fuse in your speaker which has blown up so that you can replace it and it would start working, check the power cables and confirm they are not properly connected.
If the speakers work fine , then it's all ok , but if they don't you need to replace the speakers by checking them with your friend's pc or any other audio output device.
Hope his helps.

Have windows XP. Somehow audo is out.Did I accidently switch isit off?

Yes, you might have turned off the sound in your PC.

For Windows Xp this is the procedure to turn it ON.

Go to 'Start'--->Settings---->Control Panel----->Sounds and Audio Devices

Here you will get a window where you will find all the sound related options. Here you will beable to modify the volume levels and check whether the mute checkbox is ticked, if yes then uncheck the box and click on OK.

your problem should be resolved.

If you feel that my answers have helped you getting solution to your problems then please give a vote.

I dont see speaker ikon on the toolbar

Hello...
Full details about sound issue in my website...
www.sureshayyar.110mb.com (Support page)

As an alternative u can do this (i am using this solution till date)

If u cant install the sound driver correctly, just buy a " USB Sound Adaptor" and connect it to the USB port and connect the speaker sound jack to the sound port in this adaptor....u will get back the sound....also keep in mind that u " may " have to disable onboard sound in BIOS, u may also have to make changes in the Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices / Audio Tab / Sound Playback option... Click the drop down button and select the "USB Audio Devices/Headset"

You can get it in Ebay for $1 to $4 or google it to locate a place near u......

This is the one i am refering to(I bought it in Ebay for 1$)....u can buy something similar also....there are many available mfd from China, just plug and play on your USB port....

If you find this solution useful please leave a feedback and rating to this solution.

Regards....
All the best, my dear friend....
