Black Toner not adhering to paper on CLP500. The machine has been a permanent problem since I have had it. I thought of dumping it, but was willing to give it once last chance. Purchased New Drum, Transfer system and Toners, which is why I am annoyed. Incidentally I regularly have the Waste toner full problem, when it is actually empty, but gather this is a well known problem and know how to fix it.Cannot believe it was shipped with such an elementary error.

The old toner collector is full so old toner is being deposited back onto the drum. You need to dump the old black toner reservoir out.

HI COULD BE YOUR PRINT CARRIDGE

Look to your menu for a paper setup and find the one for label or card stock and choose that. Thicker paper or labels require more heat to fuser the toner to the media.

That's usually a bad toner cartridge that dumps too much toner per print. Buying a new toner cartridge should fix it. You may need to wipe up a little spilled toner inside. Just use a dry cloth, and be very careful around the little black levers that stick up to detect the paper.

There are other manufacturers who sell toner for these, but some of them have toner inside that's so hard to stir, it breaks the gear in the machine. That makes a very expensive repair for the little money you save on generic toner.

You need to replace the fusing unit. This is the part that gets hot just before the paper exits the machine. It "fuses" the toner onto the paper. Strange that you are not getting a fuser code if it is not heating up. You may have lost the fusing pressure somehow.

Either the paper is just too thick for the printer to fuse the toner correctly, or you've NOT selected the right paper type (in the printer driver options.

If you're just printing that same as you would on ordinary A4 paper, the fuser can't get enough heat through the thick paper to fuse the toner.

May be a wrong toner problem if you've done this successfully before, but only had this problem since changing toner cartridge(s)

If you've been using Okidata original cartridges then it sounds like there's something wrong with the fuser unit in your printer. The fuser is what heats the paper to "melt" the toner onto the page. If you haven't been using Okidata cartridges, the one you purchased could either be laying down too much toner or low quality toner that can't be properly adhered to the page.

Press "clear/stop" button, then "1" then "0" then "7" then press and hold "clear/stop" button for ~ 3 seconds. This sequence has to be completed within 5 seconds. This will get you into SP mode. (Don't mess with any other settings in SP mode because this could damage the machine). Now, you will need to navigate to SP5 area, then scroll thru until you find 999 (5-999) Good luck.

1) you do not dump toner into the drum! Juo dump it into the toner unit.
2) didi you after replacement put the blue toner handle (right from toner unit) into the left position?

You have got a warped fuser this is the hot thing that cooks the toner onto the paper. Your best trying to locate a fuser unit for the machine this will solve your problem.
