Make sure you are doing this for the right ip address. The ip address should be your local computer's ip address and will probably look like 192.168.1.x . To get to this go into your network control panel and click on your connection and view the details to get this information. Remember that every time your router resets this ip could change. I would suggest setting a static ip in either the router or on your computer in question. To set up a static IP for windows xp: http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm. For windows Vista:http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm. For windows 7: http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm.

My Netgear PS121 print server requires disabled firewall (Win XP) to install. After installation, which ports has to be open in Windows Firewall, if I want the printserver to work with Windows XP Firewall...

You may try to set Exceptions on the XP Firewall configuration.

Open Windows Firewall, go to Exceptions tab.
Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is checked.
Then click Add Port.
For Port Number, enter 139 and select TCP.
Do the same for port 445 TCP, 137 UDP, 138 UDP, and 9200 TCP.
