Printing Hi, we bought an Agfa AP2700 and printed the first 5 prints for which the paper was included in the package. Now having replaced the ribbon/cartridge a message appears on the screen " insert ribbon parameter card" Can someone tell me what this means as there doesn't seem to be any write up on this in the very scanty instruction leaflet that came with the machine. Thanks

Printing Problems
? The machine beeps while printing.
The machine may have a paper jam.
• Clear the paper jam (1 p. 13-3).
? Nothing prints.
The power cord may not be plugged in securely.

The print media may not be loaded correctly.

You may be printing on the wrong side of the paper.
• Some papers have a "right" side for printing. If the print quality is not as clear as you would like it to be, try turning the paper over and printing on the other side.
? Printout has vertical white streaks.
Toner may be low or unevenly distributed.
• Redistribute the toner inside the cartridge (1 p. 12-7). If the problem persists, replace the cartridge (1 p. 12-7).

Double printing or double feed??. Double printing means document printed in 2 copies. Double feed means printer feed double paper in one moment. For double printing,please check number of copy of document in printing preference properties.
Double feed occurs when pickup roller fails to pick the paper correctly. It's usually caused by shaft of paper pick up roller which is broken. You should replace drive assembly (include pick up roller) in this case

follw the given step and check- 
1-Before printing your document, be sure the page size is set to legal paper. Go to "File> Page Setup" and then click on the "Paper Size" tab. Select "Legal" from the drop-down menu.
 
2-Go to the printer and take out the paper tray. Remove the letter size paper.
 
3-Insert about one half of the package of legal size paper into the tray, depending on the depth of your tray. Larger printers can accept an entire package, while smaller ones cannot.
 
4-Make sure that the paper goes underneath the metal clips located at both the front and back of the tray.
 
5-For printers that don't have a tray, you'll have to manually feed the legal size paper. Locate the paper feed either on the front or rear of the printer.
 
6-Put a few sheets of legal size paper into the paper feed. The paper should be placed as close to the rubber spindles as possible. These spindles will draw the paper into the machine and feed it through the printer.
 
7-Print a test page.

Have you removed the pull off tape from the top of the cartridges, it lets air in enabling the ink to flow, easy mistake!

This is most likely a ribbon impact system. Any office supply store should have the ribbon you need, with information on compaitability on the package.

Remove the paper roll and gently but firmly pry on the bezel surrounding the paper exit path. Examine the sides of the ribbon casing for any clips or fasteners.

The Yellow ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Magenta ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.

so it appears that what you are experiencing is not normal and you may have a leaking printer.

There is one thing you can check though, everytime you print, make sure that you are not printing at the highest quality option selectable as this almost certainly will fire out more ink than regular printing... choose a middle quality option or even draft option if you will be printing regular text.

Printing EnvelopesEnvelopes can be printed from the optional envelope feeder, the Multi-Purpose Tray, or Tray 1, 2, or 3.
Guidelines for envelope printing

• Use only paper envelopes.
  
• Do not print on the back of the envelope.
  
• Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces.
  
• Keep unused envelopes in their packaging to avoid the effects of moisture and dryness, which can affect print quality and cause wrinkling.
  
• Envelopes may wrinkle depending on weight and stiffness of the envelope.

Many applications include a tool for creating an envelope document. For example, Microsoft Word includes an Envelopes and Labels feature in the Tools menu. Be sure to:

• Select faceup.
  
• Clear Clockwise Rotation.
  
• Select the feed method with the image centered and the stamp on the envelope to the upper left.

Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces; they can damage the printer. Damage caused by using unsupported envelopes might not be covered by your printer's warranty.
Note: The heat from the printing process can melt certain types of envelope glue. If the envelope flap sticks shut after printing the test print, tuck the flaps inside the envelopes when printing the remaining envelopes. Printing envelopes from the envelope feeder

1. Insert the envelopes into the envelope feeder. For more information, refer to the Trays section of the Trays and Paper Guide on the Interactive Documentation CD-ROM.
   
   • Place the side to be printed faceup.
     
   • The top of the envelopes should be toward the left of the printer.
