Its just a dead pixel. No big deal. You dont have to do anything but ignore it. It shouldnt happen in the future.

Dotted lines on laptop screen

This not good, hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the LCD panel on the laptop will need to be replaced. But if both show the same symptom the video graphics card is bad normally built into the motherboard.

if this is a new or recent problem you could try a system restore back to when you think it was
running ok

And have you recently installed any updates that may of cause this to happen

if the restore dont fix the problem please come back to us telling us exactly what happens
and when also what operating system are you using eg xp vista or windows 7

many thanks

My screen has red dots all over it that won't go away unless I bend it all the way back. How do I get rid of these dots?

when the red dots show up is because the front cover of the screen is a bit loose fron the auctual screen it self!

All you can do locally is take screen off the laptop as try to press the screen from the side corners that maybe works for a litle while then you'll need to get a new one!

I need to replace a broken LCD screen on a sony vaio model PCG-5JBP. Is there any repair manuals that describe how to do this? Also where could I obtain a replacement screen for it?

you would have to look for someone selling it for parts on ebay or craigs list. and you wont fond a manual to tell you how to do this. you will have to take the trim off the monitor and then take the screws out and remove the back light cable andthen insert the new one and reconnect the back light and insert the screws and the trim. around the trim there will be rubber dots pry them off and the screws are under there.

I am unable to booth up my laptop, nothing comes up on the screen. The bottom gets very hot and nothing comes up on the screen. Do you know why this might be happening?

It sounds like you might have a fan problem that overloaded your HDD, if this is the case you might need to get a whole new HDD because the information can be fried. If possible, backup your information and install it on the new HDD if that's the case.

Horizontal lines

I am a laptop/PC technician and this problem is probably being caused by either a loose or damaged screen cable inside the laptop, a faulty or overheating graphics card or an incorrect graphics driver.

Unfortunately without actually seeing it I can't say which it is, but I would first off get a PC or laptop specialist to check to see if the graphics card driver software is correct, as this is easy and quick to sort out if this is your problem.

If this isn't the problem then I would just backup all your documents/files and return the laptop to Sony under warranty as a hardware fault could be expensive to repair.

I hope this helps.
