IVE JUST FINISHED MOVING MY ROOM ROUND AND MOVED MY DECKS AND THE MAGNET ON ONE OF THE PLATTERS HAS SNAPPED ARE THEY REPLACEABLE OR DO I HAVE TO BUY A WHOLE REPLACEMENT PLATTER IF SO WHERE CAN I FIND ONE

It depends on the turntable you have. For example Dual turntables with idler wheel drive have a spring round the platter's axle which has to be remove. Some Dual belt drive turntables have a bajonett lock, other a lever to be moved and some have only weight fixed platters. Most platters of direct drive turntalbles are just fixed by their weight and are removed with a strong pull. Greetings from northern gemany
There is a saftey cord that has a round magnet that goes in the control panel on what looks like a white round spot on your pic
if you have a refrig magnet about that size you could try that as it is just a round magnet on the end of a cord so if you fall off it stops
Suggest you remove the harddrive inside the case of the WD Passport, and install it in an inexpensive external enclosure.
However if the harddrive was on, and in use when dropped, you need not bother.
Inside that plastic case of the WD Passport, is a regular harddrive. There is also a small circuit board. Interface Board. The harddrive connects to the small circuit board directly, or there are cables (Wires) that come from the circuit board, and connect to the harddrive.
Harddrives are measured by their Width. How wide across is it. A laptop size harddrive is 2.5 inches across in width. (6.4cm) A desktop harddrive is 3.5 inches across in width. (8.9cm)
There are two styles usually used in an external harddrive. IDE (PATA) and SATA.
The harddrive in the WD Passport 250GB external harddrive is a 2.5 SATA harddrive.

Why do I state forget about repairing if the WD Passport was on when dropped? The resulting internal damage.
Bear with me, I'll try to make this short;
A) Inside the case of a harddrive as used in the WD Passport, are Platters. These resemble a CD or DVD disk. Usually made of metal, or glass.
The top surface, and bottom surface is coated with a magnetic medium. (Ferrous substance) There are usually 3 to 6 Platters.
B) There is a Read/Write Head for the Top, and Bottom of every Platter inside the harddrive. One on top, one on bottom.
The names imply just what the portion of the Read/Write Head does. The Read portion reads whats on the Platter. The Write portion writes to the Platter (When writing the magnetic medium is arranged. Arranged in 0's and 1's. 1 being ON, 0 being OFF. This is changed into computer language)
C) There is an Actuator Arm for every Platter. Holds the top Read/Write Head, and the bottom Read/Write Head.
The Actuator Arms are moved back, and forth across the Platters. The Actuator Motor moves them. (When the harddrive is operating, the arms can move back, and forth across the Platters, at Hundreds of Times a Second)
D) There is a Spindle Motor that spins a Spindle. The Spindle goes up through the center of the Platters.
The Read/Write Heads are parked away from the Platters when the harddrive is not activated. When activated the Read/Write Heads have a VERY close proximity to the surface of the Platters.
If memory serves it's around .0003 Three ten-thousandths of an inch. An average human hair is .003 Three thousandths of an inch.
With the close proximity of the Read/Write Heads to the Platters, and the extremely fast movement, the Read/Write Heads actually float on a cushion of air.
If dropped while activated, the Read/Write Heads will crash into the Platters. Retrieving information, would require a professional data retrieval shop to remove each Platter, and install them one at a time in a harddrive setup they have.
As much information is retrieved as possible. Once a harddrive is opened up, it is doomed. A harddrive is built in a Clean Room. A room that is 99.9 percent dust free. The tech's wear a suit, and have to walk through a corridor with air jets, before they can enter the Clean Room.

Quite simply: Don't. Hard drives have to be EXTREMELY precise in their positions, if they are off by as little as .5 mm, they WILL NOT read the data properly. Also, any oil or grease from your hands that get onto the platters of the hard drive will make it unusable. Just buy a new drive, Newegg.com has 1 TB drives for as little as $75.

Sounds like a tube TV . If so I believe the tube is cracked not hard to do during moving Ive done it before. it can be replaced for around 125$ to 200$ look at how much your TV is worth and if it does not exceed the value of you unit . Then locate a repair shop in the yellow pages.
Nothing to do with the magnet. These are direct drive turntables, and more than likely one of the ICs shorted. Unusual that both shorted out at the same time, so the only thing I could suspect is a faulty power source - make sure all of your cables are free of any exposure to the inner power cable. Also, you might want to invest in a good surge protector (in the $150 range) to protect these babies... I know they aren't cheap.
You will need to get them professionally serviced, there are no user replaceable parts inside.

do both of your numarks make the same sound? what is the weird sound? The magnet is 1 piece, so I am not sure if it has come loose - very hard to come loose. Check to see if there is any debris inside the magnet/coil area. Sometimes staples, small metal items get stuck to the platter. Just lift the platter off the turntable, to expose the coil and the magnet.
If all is clear, then you obviously have a more serious issue. However, you will have to be more detail in describing what kind of problem your having:
- Does your turntable power on?
- Does it sound weird when you press the play button or does it make a sound even when the platter is not rotating?
- This happening to both turntables?
- Did you buy these units new or used?
- If used, do you know the history of the turntables?
- Does it affect the speed or playing ability of the unit?
- Do you use the unit on the road? Move it around?
- Did this just start happening instantly, or was it something that just got louder over time?
I know it's a lot of questions, but I need as much information as possible to properly source the problem via this limited method.
