Question about Akai DVDRW120 DVD Recorder

I have an AKAI DVD RECORDER DVDRW 120... 3565-1546/ My problem is that the tray is stuck and will not open. I do not want to pry it open and am hoping that you have a solution that can help me.I have unplugged the machine,but that did not work. thanks, Anne.

This is a common problem. There might be a cd stuck inside (they ussually get stuck on top spindle) plug out and open cover and manually release cd

    There is a C.D. stuck inside...I have taken the top cover off the player,but still can not reach the C.D. So I think that I will ether have to take the recorder apart to reach the C.D.,or pry the tray open...neither of which I would want to do...I have even plugged the recorder in,pressed the open button and tried to lightly pry the tray open at the same time...it still never worked.

    the tray is on a gear drive so prying it open is going to strip the gears, you have to take off the cover and the top bracket of the tray.

Dvd player just ticks and doesn't register a dvd

Drive won't open
there should be a little pin hole that opens the drive when it is turned off.

Tray wont open
It may be stuck, try sticking a card or screwdriver into the tray and pry it open and then it may work

Stuck DVD tray
Turn off the computer and then use the paper clip to open the DVD tray.
If this doesn't work, then something is jaming and stopping the tray from opening. In this case, remove the DVD drive and dismantle the drive (ie. remove the metal cover to reveal the internal components and remove the CD ot DVD disc.
If nothing works the the DVD drive is faulty and needs to be replaced, these drives are not expensive.

Won't power up. Disk stuck inside. Can i open that tray to rescue my rental?
take a small flat head and pry the door open if not the only other way is to unscrew cover and manually push tray open

If the tray says DVD multi recorder with RW ,it should record . If the tray says DVD ROM it is a Read Only drive.Hope this helps.

The is a small hole next to the tray
Find a paper clip and gently puch the release the tray should open

Blocked dvd tray
The disk inside is most likely jammed. It would be best to take it to a repairman, or you can try to remove it your self.

Akai DVD recorder tray will not open
I am pursuing the exact problem above. I have found a not so hi tech solution. I firmly rap on the top above the disc drawer. This is while Close is being displayed and the drawer is in. If you hear some spinning and load displays it should now work. It may be back to cycling again on the next ejection though.
Technically I figure it may be a sticky magnetic reed switch or what ever they use to detect the drawer position. Mine displays either open or close when it starts to cycle.
