On older models, there is a round lock that you turn 90 degrees to release the battery. Use a coin, and it should turn fairly easily. You can order a battery specific to your model from various electronics supply houses.

If you are sure that the battery is the problem ...open the laptop ..and remove the old battery ..and on the battery itself it is written the model and all you need to know about it in order to get a replace ...usually all batteries for laptops are the same ...size like the ones for desktops but much thinner ...anyway ..all toshiba models use the same kind...So just go to the near by computer store and ask for one ...they should know which model ...but if you go with the battery in hand its a sure thing you will not fail or buy a wrong model...

Have you changed to a new battery if so you have the wrong model battery all phones have particular model batteries and a few generic or aftermarket models that fit if it is original battery it could be buggered and needs to be replaced.
