I have a samsung video camera and recently have taken some videos on melody mini dvd-R . When I re-inserted the dvd's in the video camera to finalize them, it kept on telling me 'disc-error'. I couldn't see them on computer because obviously they were not finalized on the video camera. Could you please help. Thanks a lot

Yes, this happened to my miniDVD-R and -RW disks as well. No, don't reformat the disk !
I've been able to recover all (if not most) of the contents - video clips from those (bad/corrupted) miniDVD-RW ... and miniDVD-R disks ... (that I had recorded using the Samsung camcorder). I use the software tool - IsoBuster Pro . Inserted the mini-DVD into the DVD drive on my PC/laptop, and started the software . The process (to recover) may be very long .. i.e. it may take several to many hours for one miniDVD disk ... but it eventually enable me to retrieve the (lost) video clips.

First find the format of the video.

Insert the video cd to the computer and right click the video file and the click the properties menu, watch the file type(i.e: .flv , .avi ,.wmv)

Basically the hitachi saves in mpeg2 or mpeg4 type.

Use the GOM player to play the video Or there are many more players available to play that video.

Yes, the mini DVD-RW will work on this camera. When you insert the disk and power on the camcorder (with the mode on DISC), the camcorder will try to read the disk, and if it isn't formatted yet, the LCD display will offer you the option to format it (in VR or Video mode). Simply select and click to format the disk

Finalise the disk in your camera. Run WMM and insert the disk in to the PC's drive. In WMM under "Capture Video" select "Import". Click "My Computer" on the next prompt and then click your DVD drive. That will get you started - use Help to find your way around WMM which allows you to write your edited video to CD/DVD etc. Have fun!

Please check your camera with another mini-DVD. actually camera detects dvd with its dvd-lens. there is no other sensor to sense dvd inside.
