i needed one as well you can buy a noise canceling talk back external speaker with volume. i bought a astatic classic works perfectly..as for wanting to turn up talk back on radio do you have dynamic mic volume? if so try turning that up a little at a time and see if that helps.also do you have a volume control for talk back? if so turn it up to. hope this helps!!!
I know what you are asking now. Open the radio and look for the modulation transformer towards the back of the radio. see the variable resistor closest to it,turn it all the way to the left while talking to someone and if they loose you then turn it all the way to the right. Put the lid back on and you're done.
See if you can connect an external speaker and see if you get received audio. You might also see if you can connect directly to the audio output on the main board directly to see if there is detected audio.
May need some test equipment to find the fault on that one. You could send it in to us and we can fix it. *Just keep in mind that a new radio like that General Lee or Connex 3300 are only $199.99 MAX !!!+tax of course.. soo it depends on how much you have invested as if it is worth it to you to spend anything on it. We do not charge to look at any radio -no bench fees-.. Let me know Ill get you any info that you need.
This has no problem to do with the phone as far as i know.
It occurs normally when you are talking to someone who happens to be in a very quite and large room without that it empty. this is due to the empty vaccumm that causes the sound that is produced to be reflected back into themic of the phone and as a result causes you to hear your voice.
Also, another thing that causes it is when you talk to someone who puts the call on loudspeaker and there are multiple surfaces causing the reflection of the sounds you make.
In summary, there is nothing wrong with your phone and you just need to tell whoever you are talking to to try and move to an area that is a bit occupied so as to prevent echoes.
At that point if you've checked everything else throughly..like the mic, and the coax, and the antenna and the mount, and still nothing? You may possibly have a radio that needs to go to a repair shop. Actually I take back my last sentence....with a radio like the General Lee, its worth quite a bit of money, and if all obvious things are checked and still nothing I'd recommend having a local radio shop open the hood and take a look. I've had many people tell me that there are no radio shops to bring thier rigs to. So if your in the same boat I'll tell you what I told them...call you local police department or sherrifs office and ask them who does the work on their radio system....(just don't call them on the 911 line) I'm just wondering what your SWR readings were when you were using the radIo? Did you use an in line meter, or the one on the radio....cause I'm guessing your levels were high and you didn't recalibrate it and burned the primaries....sorry I don't have an easy fix answer for you....keep me posting on your progress I'm kind of curious
Make sure the ear bud isn't going bad, they are generally thin wired and poorly manufactured. Try a different set that is compatible.
If that doesn't fix it, take the battery out of the phone, get some rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush and clean the headphone port.
And if that doesn't fix it, just get a bluetooth headset. Your pone is compatible and they can be found online for usually around $20. $40 for a descent set.
