It should be under CD/DVD selection.
Unzip the file before installation.
Consider to change the IDE drive with a newer one or better
if the software update does not work.
The drive could also be broken.
As there is 8 different models of your drive
You have to look in the device manager to tell the name
of the drive.
CD/DVD drives are even less reliable than the cheap power supplies generally used in packaged PCs.
Of two new, brand-name drives by Lite-On, one was DOA and the second ran for 2 days.
You can try removing (deleting) the drive from the Device Manager list, then rebooting.
If the drive is at all usable, Windows should 'find' it and reinstall the driver needed.
If this doesn't work, the drive is likely dead.
insert the recovery disc or the drivers disc that came with your desktop. reinstall the Card reader and USB 2.0. have made any changes recently in the wirings inside or any new IDE/ SATA devices? this could also be due to incorrect wirings...
First thing to do is go to the manufacturers website or dell.com/support if it is an OEM drive download the driver for it. Make sure you save it and not run it now what you want to do is follow these steps in uninstalling the old driver and installing the new one
Go to Start Button Click control panel System and maintenance System then in the left pane you should see an option for device manager go inside there expand the category for cd/dvd/rw drives right-click on the drive and click uninstall then you will want to install the freshly downloaded driver and then reboot
a few things you can get back to me on :
-what program do you use to try to burn? -what OS are you running?
If these steps seem difficult let me know and i will give you a screenshot walk through. I need to know the OS for that . let me know if this helps
maybe the carbons of the DVD reader are getting too old and it doesn't rotate as fast as how it was burned so it cannot read the movies.. buying a new one will fix your problem.. the problems of nano technology is that things are too small to be fixed by humans...
maybe you could play those games because they were old, and since most of the stuff its installed in your computer it doesn't need much from the DVD unit..
