Do you mean that you want to save the letter as a PDF file? That is the default file type of Adobe Acrobat. Did you install the Smart Thru software? You should double-click the icon for the program and then select Scan to File. Set the file type to PDF when you save the scan. Alternatively, add Adobe application into Printer Setting Utilities. Make the Adobe application the default.

Third party software is available to do this as well if you do not want to use the Smart Thru software. Paperport is the software that I use most.

Support for the Samsung SCX-4300 is available here: http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/printer-multifunction/mono-multifunction/SCX-4300/XSS/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support . Click on the Download Centre tab for manuals, drivers and software.

I hope this helps.

I want to scan to pdf on the hp 7310 all in one but it only scans to a file (jpg). How can I scan to pdf?

you will need to open a pdf creation program like adobe acrobat pro and scan while in that program. Then you can save it as a pdf. The scanning software will just scan it as an image.

I keep getting an error message when I try to save a file as a PDF. It tells me it is unable to initialize the PDF Printer driver.

Try starting adobe acrobat before trying to print/save. If screens come up wanting you to agree to a license agreement, you need to do so. A lot of times, this software gets installed, but never gets started, and therefore never gets the license agreed to! Once this is done, and acrobat is working properly, try to print/save.

If it does not work...

You might try to re-install adobe acrobat.

This can be done by going to control panel and then to add remove programs..
Select adobe acrobat and click remove.

After that, you can re-install using your acrobat disc. If you do not have an acrobat disc, you may find the software up at Adobe's website:

Adobe.com/acrobat
or
Adobe.com/acrobatreader

Once this is re-installed, you should be able to launch the print to file!

I am using Adobe Acrobat version 9, Windows Vista

Hi Jerry! Adobe Acrobat is indeed a excellent PDF editing program. However, you are having trouble on it, why don't you use another software. You can try LightPDF. This program is much easier to use and comes with several useful features such as OCR function and converter. Try it here: https://lightpdf.com/

I can't figure out how to scan multiple pages to one file

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing fixya.com

It is possible to scan different batches scanned from the ADF into one PDF file. When loading more pages in the ADF after the first realm is finished, it asks if you want to continue scanning to the same file. After that, it will continue scanning to the same file. However, this feature can be selected in the Adobe Acrobat application itself. From HP software, if we load the paper after one realm of paper in the ADF is finished, it will scan the second realm to a different file. If you want to continue scanning to the same file, you need to have either Acrobat Exchange or Adobe Acrobat installed on the computer. Adobe Reader will not provide this feature. After installing either Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Exchange, perform the following steps to scan pages to a single file:
  1. Make sure your scanner is turned on.
  2. Start Acrobat Exchange or Adobe Acrobat.
  3. Put the document into the scanner (usually face down on the scan bed).
  4. In Adobe Acrobat, click File , then Import , and Scan .
  5. Select the device and whether you are scanning a single- or double-sided document.
  6. The scanning software opens and the scanner completes a preview scan.
  7. When the preview scan comes up, make any adjustments you would like, including selecting the area you want to appear in the final scan.
  8. Click Scan . This will get the final scan into the computer.
  9. Your scanning software should take you back to Adobe Acrobat.
  10. In Adobe Acrobat, you should see a small window asking you if you want to scan another page. If the document you are scanning has more than one page, click the Next Page button. If this is the only page, click Done .
NOTE: Scanning multiple pages causes each page to append to the previously scanned page. If you have multiple pages, but want them to be in different files, click Done after each page to create separate files.
  11. When you have scanned the last page, click Done on the window described in step 10.
  12. Your scanned pages will open in Adobe Acrobat. Scroll through to make sure that everything is there.
  13. Click File , and then Save As to name your file and save it.
Still unable to figure out, How to do this? Here are some tutorial on HP website that might help.

Hope this would help.
