Question about Zenith R57W46 57" Rear Projection Television
Hello,
Bulb TVs are very big. In most cases the TV will give a warning that alerts you it's time to change the bulb. Do not touch the glass part of the bulb, as oil from your hands will reduce the life span of your bulb. Replacing the bulb is a simple process that will take a few minutes. Here is how to do it.
Step 1: Read User Manual
Make sure that you have your user manual with you when working on your TV. Most electrical appliances will have guides on how to deal with replacements of parts and where to get the replacements and what specifications to look for. Read the user manual in depth before attempting the project of replacing the bulb.
Step 2: Disconnect Power
When working with any electrical appliance, always switch off and disconnect the power. Electrical shocks can cause injury or even death.
Step 3: Open Bulb Door
At the back of the TV there will be a bulb door which will usually be near the power cord, depending on the make of the TV. Once you locate the door, proceed to open either by sliding it open or unscrewing it as may be required.
Step 4: Remove and Replace Bulb
Once the door is open, unscrew the bulb assembly and remove it. You can then remove the bulb from its compartment. Bring out the new bulb. Hold up the groove on top of the new bulb and align with the groove pocket on the inside of the TV, then proceed to slide the new bulb into place.
Step 5: Replace Bulb Assembly
Once the bulb is securely held in place, return the bulb assembly to its position and screw it back. Make sure not to tighten it too much but have the screws just firmly in place.
Step 6: Close Bulb Door
Once you are finished, you can close the bulb door after making sure there are no tools or screws left inside. Having such items inside the TV could cause a short circuit. Your door needs to be closed for the TV to operate.
Tips:
Remember to allow the old bulb to cool before you remove it. It will usually heat up to very high temperatures that could cause some serious damage. Most TV bulbs will warn you to replace your bulb while about a hundred hours are left on the old bulb. This duration is meant to give you time to get the replacement bulb and fit it.
Finally, if you do not feel confident in doing the replacement yourself, get a professional to do it for you. They might charge you a fee, but it will be cheaper than the cost of damage caused by a poor fit.
Take care in solving the fault
