Hold down the power button for four seconds and check to see if one of the keys are stuck.

When I connect my laptop to a desktop monitor's hdmi port, why does the desktop's keyboard and mouse stop working ? On switching back to desktop mode, they start working. Please suggest urgently.

A monitor can only show one screen at a time. If you connect your laptop to your monitor, it will only show your laptop, not your desktop. That is why your desktop mouse and keyboard don't seem to respond. You won't see them on your monitor if you have the laptop plugged into it.

Where are my icons

If you are in Windows and all your desktop icons have vanished, do the following:

On the desktop, right-click the mouse.
Select VIEW.
Look at the bottom of the list for the item that says
"SHOW DESKTOP ICONS". It should have a check mark with it.

If it does not, select it to get a check mark and your icons should reappear.

When I was shut down my mashing it always shows a window now it says you have to close any window and mashing is very slow what I will do? please help me

Try removing items from your desktop screen. If it is cluttered with lots of icons, it slows the machine down considerably.

Can see the desktop and icons, but have no control over them with mouse - can click and doubleclick, but to no avail.

I think someone played a practical joke on you. I bet one of your friends changed your desktop to look like it has icons and then hid the real icons.

Right click on your desktop, and then under the "View" menu item, make sure "Show Desktop Icons" is checked.

Also, right click on the desktop and select "Personalize", then at the bottom of the dialog, select "Choose Desktop Background" and change your desktop background.

My laptop wont show any icons on the desktop and it wont do anything but show my background and mouse.

Hello, If your laptop shows something on your desktop before and suddenly it just stop showing things then right click on your desktop, under VIEW, click on SHOW DESKTOP ICON. If this does not work then your laptop has been infected with Virus. You need to get a good anti-virus to remove the virus or format your system. Regards

It takes my PC a very long time to boot up, what can i do?

If you have installed any softwares recently it might slow down the pc as many softwares will install a startup file in order to start faster. You can shut these programs from starting up when the pc starts.
I put 2 steps to resolve this in order of simplicity.

Remove icons from the Startup folder
Some programs open with a shortcut icon in the startup folder (Startup icons). Use the following steps to show any startup icons that might be hidden and remove startup icons from the startup folder:
NOTE: Removing items from the Startup folder does not uninstall the software program.
1. Right-click the Start button, and click Explore . The Windows Explorer window displays with Start Menu already selected.
2. Click the plus sign ( + ) next to Programs .
3. Click Startup . The shortcut icons are listed in the right pane of the window.
4. To show any hidden icons, click Tools , click Folder Options , and click the View tab.
5. Click Show hidden files and folders (Windows XP/ME) or Show all files (Windows 98), and click OK .
6. Click an unwanted startup item in the right pane of the window and drag it to a blank area on the Windows desktop. Release the mouse button to drop the icon onto the desktop.
7. Continue dragging unwanted icons until all unwanted startup icons are on the desktop. Click Yes to any window that display asking to confirm the removal of a read-only file.
8. Close Windows Explorer and restart the computer for the changes to take effect. Delete the startup icons that were moved to the desktop after you are satisfied with the way the software programs are working.
If you find that a particular software program should not have been removed from the Startup folder, double-click the startup menu item to open the Startup window. Then drag the icon from the desktop back into the Startup window.
