It is fixable the question though is it worth fixing? because the problem usualy resides in the cost of repair.

Any guesses on how bad repairs could be?

  • Anonymous May 12, 2011

If the light turns on, it might be the 'inverter'. The repair should be raiging from 200 to 400 $. If you want to do it yourself you'll save quite a few bucks but to do so you'll have to now a lot and i mean a lot of electronics, since it will require sodering.
If the light doesnt turn on it might be the transformer. There are some forums sayng that even if you change transformer it will only work for a little while because the problem is not just the transformer.

Blinking light on 20 inch apple display

Blinking light on Apple cinema display usually indicates insufficient power from the power supply. Test it with another power supply from ANY cinema display (23" and 27" power supplies are ok to test with).

Cracked Apple Cinema 30"

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to remedy the problem, as I recall, you'd need to order the lcd paneling for the bezel itself (assuming the aluminum bezel is still fine), but be prepared to pay a rather hefty price. LCD panels are never cheap, at least if you order them direct for manufacturers or suppliers. You could try hunting around other websites that sell used parts, or if you happen to know someone that has an unuseable monitor but the LCD panel is still operational (just has to be the same part number and whatnot, unfortunately you can't just take any LCD panel and plop it in, in most cases). Hope this gives you a push in the right direction!

Dim 20" Apple Cinema Display

Double check you power cord and try switching plugs.

sounds like its not getting enough power or a CCFL is going or is out and you need to get it serviced if thats the case.

Do not attempt to repair this your self Monitors usally have there own power supply built ind can store massive amounts of energy and will cause serious injury or death.

Apple 20" display black screen

I've read that aftermarket DVI cable adapters don't work well with this set-up. You might try the Apple DVI to ADC adapter. It's expensive but I see them on eBay or craigslist from time to time at less than half the normal $99 cost.
