There are 4 elastic bands inside the top that pull certain roof support bars back...much like a set of vertical blinds that need all slats moving together at the same angle. If the elastic bands are stretched & worn out... a bar going across the roof (side-to-side) stays forward and does not let the roof go back. This happened to mine. My mechanic taught me how to do the manual procedure (also in the owner's manual) but I also had to move that bar myself toward the back of the car in order for it to fold down back in it's bay. I took it to the dealer and he had an upholstery guy reach in and replace the 2 outer elastic bands for a nominal fee. He could not replace the 2 middle elastic bands without tearing the roof material apart. But the top works fine for now. He said it should last about a year or so before the bands stretch out again. He also said to put the top up and down at least once every 2 weeks to keep it functioning properly. When the top is up (over you head) the bands are fully stretched.... they are relaxed when the top is down.

If your vehicle has
the dual power sliding doors, both doors will have
to be reset. To reset a door, do the following:
1. Check to be sure the power sliding door is
unlocked and securely closed.
2. Turn the ignition to LOCK.
3. If the power sliding door overhead console
switch is in the override (deactivation)
position, return to the activation position.
4. Open the sliding door using the remote
keyless entry transmitter, overhead console
switch, or passenger switch. Allow the door to
travel fully open.
If the door does not travel to the fully open
position, press the overhead console switch to the
override (deactivation) position and slide the
door fully open and closed. Check for foreign
objects in the tracks. Repeat the procedure starting
with Step 1. If the door resists travel to the fully
open position, see your retailer for service.
