I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73 that I have had for many years now. I have never had any problems with the camera till now. It has never been dropped or anything, but the camera will not zoom in or out at all. I have researched this problem but have not had any luck finding a solution. Any suggestions?

It's possible with how old it is the zoom motor has worn out, I've seen that before with the older Sony digital cameras. It's possible for it to be repaired but it's more cost effective to get a new camera from my experience. Hope this helps.

Hi, The shutter on my sony dsc - p73 will not open all of a sudden is there any hope of being able to sort this?

I'm sorry that the shutter of the sony dsc - p73 will not open. I suggest that you perform a power reset and check the operation.

Performing a manual power reset
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the battery pack.
  3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
  4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery pack.
  7. Turn on the camera
If the issue is not resolved, service will be requred.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY LAPTOP HAS WINDOW VISTA SYSTEM AND I CANNOT LOAD MY PHOTOS FROM MY SONY CYBERSHOT DSC P73. I NEED THE PROGRAM OR WHAT I NEED TO DO?

To make things easier, you should buy a card reader. There are different types.

MS Pro Card Reader - Is ONLY for the sony memory cards

Multi Card Reader - Will read sD, xD, Ms Pro Duo, Ms Pro, Compact Flash, Smart Media, etc.

Sony has a new memory stick out called the memory stick pro duo. Your P73 does not take this. The P73 takes the Memory Stick Pro. Which is a longer stick. You can go out to best buy or ritz camera and buy a card reader (Memory Stick Pro) and stick your memory card into the card reader and stick that into your USB port on your computer. Since it is USB, this will require NO SOFTWARE.

Your camera came out in 2004. Vista did not come out until early 2007. A lot of software does not work with vista.

Sony Cybershot dsc-p73 dropped

I also dropped this camera from waist high and the lens was stuck out and would not retract or let me do anything. I ended up having it sent to Sony to replace the lens and it cost me $200. I paid $300 for the camera to begin with but to me this was the BEST camera I'd ever had and was worth it. Before repairing it, I bought a new Sony Cybershot DSC-W80 since the original one I had dropped was no longer available. I was NOT pleased with the quality of the new camera at all and it was supposed to be better than the one I dropped. That's when I decided it was worth repairing the broken one and worth the cost.
