Usually, before you can confirm the document/picture that you are trying to scan, it will first give you the PREVIEW. On the the preview, make sure that it shows you the whole and exact size of the page so that when you confirm the scan doc/picture it will give you the exact result also. Try to check the preview first and then changed the size. that should surely work.

First you need to check the scanner hardware , you need to make a copy if it prints the whole page then its working fine and if you face the same problem with copy then use this link:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=11995
and you face the problem only with scan then you need to adjust the size of the paper:
Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.
Click the Page Setup tab.
Specify the 'Fit-to-Page Printing' settingsSelect Fit-to-Page Printing.
(2)
Select the size of original document created in application program.
Paper sizes larger than the printer can handle will be available.
(3) Select the actual size of print media.
Click 'OK'.

Try to adjust the scanner resolution
Solution:
Adjusting Output (Scan) Resolution (Windows) - MP150 / MP170 / MP450 / MP500 / MP800 / MP950
Adjusting Output (Scan) Resolution
By changing the resolution, you can set how clear the image is going to be.
The higher the resolution, the clearer (but the larger) the scanned image is.
The resolution can be changed before scanning.
(Note)
If the resolution is doubled, the image data will be quadrupled.
If the data is large, problems such as slow processing speed or lack of memory may occur.

Yes you can follow what mastersaintx solution about uninstalling/reinstalling the device and if still the same problem, the scanner is bad and may need a replacement already...
Because after you already uninstall/reinstall using the latest software for it that you downloaded, it only means that there's probably a mechanical problem with it so better take it to repair center ...
You can go to this link and download the software for the printer so you can continue in the reinstallation http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro...
Good luck........

Uninstall the cannon printer from ur pc completely and then again reboot and install freshly again and try..
Hoping to hear from you..
Thankyou
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers for the device. If that does not work. Try the scanner on another computer if the same thing happens then its a hardware problem already. Used to experience this on a Microtek scanner same symptoms.
You can go to the link below then click on Drivers and Downloads
Link
Looks like the only option left is to bring it in for repair but get an estimate first as this may cost more than a new unit

Kevin suggested that I reset the printer. That didn't help. With the next scan, it produced 6 different documents, of small bits of the document on the glass.
Do I need a disk to unistall and reinstall the software? If I do, then I can't do that as I cannot find any disks that relate to this printer.
I couod do what you suggest, but before I do, will i need the original disk that Canon supplied to me with the printer to reinstall? If so, I can't do this as I don't have that disk.
So, I have uninstalled and was able to reinstall without a canon disk. I scanned a document three times. The first scan was only part of the page. The second scan was corect. The third was a small part of the page.
Any other ideas? (before I take the hardware to a repairer or throw it in the dumpster)
So, the scanner worked most of the time after I unintslled something and then reinstalled the same thing. That was two weeks ago.
However, in the last couple of days the scanner has gone back to its old ways. I am getting about 1 out of ten scanning properly.
I decided that I would uninstall and reinstall again. So I uninstalled what I thought I di last time. That is MP Navigator. Now it ids gone and I can't see anything to reinstall. As I said before, I cannot find the disk that came with the printer.
What do I do now?
Thanks, Kevin. I am a novice. ow do I do that???
