The solution to being able to delete songs and videos is to link the mp4 player to a host computer its the only way that i have found so far. for windows you go to my computer once the unit is linked and you should be able to find the device below the other drives it will say GPX MTP device and have a pic of the device. double click on the icon and then find the file(s) you would want to delete also before linking the device make sure its online device mode is media device NOT usb disk thank you

I have a ml638b digital media player, video and music, and i think i accidently deleted the firmware, it does not turn on, but wen plugged into a computer it works fine, how do i fix it?

The gpx ML638B has 2 modes while plugged into the computer. 1 as a usb mass storage, the other i believe was called an mtx device. these modes are switched by pressing the "mode" button on the side while connected to the PC. try switching between the 2 modes and browsing the drive letter it is assigned to to find and delete songs individually.
when all else fails you can always select from settings menu to format which will delete everything. and or you can use the master reset button using a pin or paper clip in the back of it.

As for only turning on when it is connected to the PC. then most likely your internal rechargable battery isnt charged enough yet or has bit the dust. try lleaving it plugged up for a few hours to charge fully through the usb connection.

I have gpx ml638b and the drivers wont dwld on my system and i can only hear about 20 sec. of the music it dwld and it wont let me put a 700 mb movie on it even when the file says its empty this would only...

Here is a link to the official GPX ML638b page http://www.gpx.com/store/p/261-ML638B.aspx I think the link to Software Restore Utility has the drivers you need. (I'm not 100% sure)
The only difference between the ML648B and Your model is that yours holds 1GB and the other holds 2. Also the Letter at the end of the models name specifies which color it is, B for Black and S for Silver.
Movies must be an AMV file format see here for a full tutorial on that http://www.fixya.com/support/r2808906-videos_pictures_gpx The link has a video tutorial on what you must do step by step to begin enjoying videos.

As far as only playing the first couple of seconds of music, your player may be in Intro Mode. To remedy this, Play a song and hit the button on the side of the player, select Play Mode and then select Normal.

I hope this answers all of your questions and gives you a better understanding of this device.

How do you remove all of the music/data from the GPX ML638B?

Deleting Files,Pictures,etc from MP3 Player

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

I bought an mp4 player branded GPX model ML648S and it just stopped letting me transfer music onto it with any microsoft. i need help, ive tried everything!

I suggest taking a small screwdriver or tip of a pen and holding down the RESET button on the back of the device. This should return the device to it's factory settings. Like getting a brand new MP3 player. Also make sure your memory is not full. You can delete files my opening up My Computer, then GPX device, then Portable Memory, Then Music and then delete songs you no longer wish to hear.

Can not download music to player.

Windows Media Player says that my ML638B is full but it’s actually empty. How do I fix this problem?

If this problem occurs then your ML638B needs to be formatted.

1. Connect your ML638B to your computer with Windows XP or later.
2. By default your computer will recognize ML638B as GPX MTP Device. Press the POWER button from top of your ML638B, to change it to USB mode connection. You will also see USB on the screen of ML638B.
3. ML638B will now mount 2 drives, one as Tools (as CD-Drive) and second as Removable Disk (Drive) – under My Computer on your Windows Desktop.
4. Right click your mouse and then select the Format option. When the Format Removable Disk window appears select the Start button to start formatting your MP3 player.

The ml638b gpx digital audio player

you have to have on your computer windows media player, then download your music into a foulder named music in my documents, that way when you open the media player the music should show in that program, then select sync on the bar and drop the music into the right side colum where said sync list then select sync at the bottom of that list of songs, of course you have to plug your device into the computer for this. good luck, it work if you do the correct thing.
