Both lights on the top oven work when using it as an oven but when using it as a grill, they don't! There doesn't appear to be any other fault as the oven and grill still work fine. Any thoughts please? Thanks.

The unit is working as it should. The top oven lights will only come on when the top oven control knob is turned on. The grill control does NOT turn the lights on. If you want to see what you are grilling, then you should turn the top oven control on to its first position. This works even if the grill is operating.

Both oven knobs have come off and although don't appear to be broken we can't seem to fix them back on properly

First try a layer of silver paper around spindle.

If not satisfactory then try a "No nails" type of clue.

Electrolux EOU5330X Ultrafan Electric Double Oven -

Sounds to me like the lower element shorted and tripped the breaker as it burned out. If you're handy at electrical troubleshooting that's where I'd start - comparing ohmmeter readings between the bad element and the one that works.

A wire short to the chassis would have a similar set of symptoms and be easier to find and fix.

Beyond that, you need a service tech.

The grill gets hot but doesn't brown the food?

Normally, if a grill element fails, it just stops working. So if they are working then on full power, both elements should get red hot! If this is the case, all I suggest is that you try experimenting with different heights with the grill tray. And by the way, don't shut the door when you are grilling as this shuts the grill off!

It looks like the clock has failed. Try leaving the power off for at least 10 mins, turn it back on at the main switch and then try it. If it still doesn't work Espares can get you a new one. Incidentally, if there is power to the oven, the grill will work even if the clock is not set.

My electrolux EOB5610 wont heat up....the fan works and the grill works but will not reach any sort of temp !!!!

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. you have a electric oven or a gas oven that won't heat or doesn't heat properly, here are some things you will need to check. The most likely cause of a oven not heating correctly is a defective heating element. You have two types of heating elements in your oven. The bottom element(s) are the baking elements. The element(s) on the top are the broil elements. If you don't see the bright red glow from the element, chances are they are not working or not working correctly. If a heating element is bad, you need to replace the entire element. If your oven is warm and not correctly hot, one of the elements may be bad. In most ovens, when you preheat, both elements are used. This would make the oven to appear like it is working correctly but it is not. If the elements are not working, they might not be getting power. Test the wires to the elements with a voltage meter to make sure they are getting power before you decide to change them out. Many electrical ovens have a sensor that monitors the oven temperture. Ovens that have this sensor usually contain a digital display on the oven. The sensor could be defective. Those without the sensor use the basic mechanical system to control the oven temperature. You also want to check the thermostat sensing bulb. Make sure the bulb is good and has not come loose. Now, if you have a gas range oven that doesn't heat properly, first, you want to check your bake igniter. It may have burned out or it could be not working properly. It will be located near your burner. It is also possible that you are not getting gas to the burner. If so, it may be the gas safety valve or the igniter. You need to check your selector switch and thermostat as well. They may be defective. Always make sure you test the parts for power with a voltage meter of some type before you decide to change the part. If you have a part that appears to not be working, it may not be getting power because of a bad wire or broken connection.

ISOLATE THE MAINS POWER BEFORE CHECKING THE APPLIANCE
Run your fingers along the grill element, in this model it is accessible, check for raised areas or small hole or roughness not food burnt, if visible, it should be Black Grey colour at the blemish, you can obtain parts from www.whitegoods.co.uk you will need the model and serial numbers.
The grill elements come out but when unsrewed sometimes the ceramic holders crack, remove element before ordering as you may have to replace the element holders.
Hope this has been helpful

I've got an Hoover HDC884X Built in Electric Double Oven. Can you tell me what I need to do grill toast. Don't understand the knob controls and the manual doesn't help as it is too generic

Hi, I understand your frustration, the manual supplied is next to useless! The 'obvious' settings appear NOT to work (as the grill remains on full heat setting all the time). The only way we've managed is to lower the food away from the grill..... not ideal I know - but also we don't use it for toast.
I suppose Hoover would be the next best port of call for assistance, oh for a proper manual, not a horrible generic one that attmpts to cover every model they produce - AND FAILS.
This is purchasers main complaint about buying Hoover ovens it seems.
I'll come back to see if anyone can supply a solution to our problem.... and hope it's not a fault in manufacture.

Stoves 720ef grill not working

The grills appear to be independant of each other. Does the oven still work and the oven light come on?

Depending on your answer it could be that the Top Oven Switch has gone faulty. The Grill Regulator and the Switch work together on the top oven. To get at both you will need to take the top of the oven off.
