Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

Kenmore Refrigerator 795 7730 9600 freezer drawer on bottom

The top drawer of my freezer fits into two small holes on the plastic glides. Over time, the holes have broken open and now my drawer will not stay in. Because the icemaker empties into the bin that sits in this drawer, I cannot use my icemaker. I use my freezer constantly. Is there a recall on this? This is obviously a design flaw.
Thanks,
Mamba

SOURCE: fan runs constantly, freezer ice melting, bottom drawer in refrig

  • If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

  • If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

  • If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

How do you remove drawers from craftsman 26" quiet glide middle tool chest?

My Craftsman rolling tool chest has bearing glides. Open the drawer all the way and look at the drawer glides. One each side there is a small black lever to release the drawer from the glides. One will move upward and one downward by pushing on the beveled side and pull the drawer out.

I have a Whirlpool Duet and the water is over flowing from the soap drawer. I have already cleaned out the soap drawer and tried flushing the opening that leads into the machine with a hose. Any other...

This is inevitably caused by a blockage. The small fabric conditioner compartment in the soap dispenser drawer has a removable plastic cap. This cap fits on the top of a tube which has a hole running through it where the water should siphon through.

When the time comes for the fabric conditioner to be released, cold water enters the small compartment and just washes the conditioner over the top and down the dispenser to the tub. When the water stops flowing, all that is left is the clear water. This water should siphon up the inside of the cap and down the tube.

This tube often gets blocked with the conditioner and if you remove the dispenser drawer and take off the cap you can give the whole thing a good clean out. If the cap is missing, the siphoning will not occur.

To test the function, hold the soap drawer under the tap and allow the water to fill the fabric compartment to overflowing. When you turn off the tap, the remaining water should slowly siphon out of the hole under the cap.

My freezer door will not close properly

    Hello,

Sometimes, just smearing vaseline all around your gasket on your door will help to seal it. We do this as the gasket dries out a little. Also, you might check down at the bottom where the door washers, etc. are, and see if that is part of the problem. I have had both of these problems and this seems to have taken care of it.
    Also note that

A huge block of ice has built up behind the back panel. This has made the back panel expand, thus making the drawers jut out too far. Like me, you may not think ice build up is the cause, since you cannot see any ice.

Action: Defrost freezer. Yes, I know its frost free, but wait an see! Take out al drawers, empty fridge and freezer and defrost overnight with doors open. The next morning, unscrew the back panel of the freezer. You will see 4 screws, 2 at the top, 2 at the bottom. These are not normal screws and are in an awkward postion at the top. Use pliers to grip and unscrew. Slide the panel forward and out. There! A massive block of ice! YOu will also see a hole at the bottom. SO that this didn't get blocked with all the water, I plugged the hole up using a ball of tissue wrapped in some plastic from a plastic bag (clingfilm would also do the trick). Use a hairdryer to melt the ice. Do not chip away at the ice as this might do damage. It took mine about 20 minutes to melt until a large block could be safely removed. Once you have dried the inside, unblock hole and screw panel back on. The drawers should now fit and the door close. I found I still needed to give my door a little help with closing it, but it did close and seal fully. All you have to do now is turn the fridge freezer back on.
But if the door gasket is bad you can change for a new , the follow is a guideline for you to replace
There are screws under the fold of the freezer door gasket that holds the brace for the gasket in place. Lift the rubber gasket to expose the screw head, one section at a time. Just loosen the screw, and do not take it completely out.
    Step 2
As you loosen the screws, one section at a time, carefully remove the old gasket. At the same time, fit the new gasket into the groove. Make sure your new gasket is lined up properly.
    Step 3
Continue around the freezer door, unloosening the screw, taking out the old gasket and fitting the new one in.
    Step 4
Tighten the screws into place. This may have to be done once the entire gasket is fitted into place.
    Step 5
Keep the gasket clean to last longer.
Check the seal by closing the door. You should have a nice, tight seal.
    Hope this helps

    Upper spray arm failure

    Easy to solve!
    (1) Remove the drawers to give yourself room to work
    (a) bottom drawer just comes right out -- but you knew that
    (b) Carefully unclip small plastic retainer caps at the ends of the metal "glides" for the top drawer. Then slide the caps out of the glides. Then remove the top drawer.
    (2) Unscrew the "gear-like" plastic fitting into whose hole you were sticking your finger when you felt that small cylindrical ring.
    (3) Now that you've got access to the ring, the solution is obvious -- use it to snap the upper arm back into the gear-like fitting. When you're done, the arm will rotate freely in the fitting.
    (4) Put everything back together and enjoy the fact that you didn't have to pay some yobbo $75 to come to your hous and do this for you!

(HINT: When screwing the gear-like fitting back into place, use the old machinist's trick of pressing gently and screwing backwards until you feel a click. The threads will now be aligned for you to screw things together the right way. If you do not do this, you might experience frustration reattaching fitting -- since the piece it screws onto is spring loaded.)

Dometic rm2804 door hinges are worn and plastic strip retainer is broken off. On the lower door the hinge pins fit into round metal guides. In turn, the metal guides are held in place on the door corners...

I had this problem. I reversed the decorative plastic strips, both ends of the strip have hinge pin holes, so the doors can open left or right. I put the TOP decorative plastic strip on the bottom and BOTTOM on top.

Has something fallen behind the drawer, and is preventing it from sliding back all the way? Remove the drawer by pulling it all the way out and lift it up and out. Look for anything that has fallen back there.

Bottom drawer does not properly close

Okay, I fixed it for now. The design for this bottom freezer drawer is not good. What happened was most likely that my son slammed the door, and it bounced and was slightly open. Overnight, ice started to form all over the compartment, including inside the drawer guides. Some ice was probably obstructing the drawer glide from sliding shut.

What I did, not thinking this was the solution, was to prop chairs against the drawer to close it while I searched for answers on the Internet. In the meantime, some of this ice must have refrozen in the closed position (due to the weight of the chairs). When I went to check it later, I had a little trouble opening the drawer. I gave it a hard yank and some small frost flew off, as I opened the drawer.

It was not easy sliding it due to the frost. I then moved it out and in until it felt smooth, and finally closed the drawer and it stayed in the shut position.

Kids are instructed to close the drawer gently and visually check that it is sealed. There is also an air passage between the refrigerator unit and the freezer so that when you close the double french doors, some air pushed to the freezer section and momentarily pops the drawer open. You should make sure that the drawer closes before leaving the kitchen. If you are on vacation, prop chairs to make sure both the freezer drawer and the french doors stay closed. This is important if you're in an earthquake area as a small tremor could open the doors and you'll get a fire when the lights stay on and burn through the wiring (as others have noted).
