Belt has jammed or drum has slipped out off drum guides

Hi,

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

The most common causes are the belt breaking or jumping off, or the motor goingbad...

Here are a couple of tips that I wrote will help you to figure out why yourdryer will not run...

If motor is sounding quieter than normal more than likely the belt has broken.

i think the belt is slipping bad on your dryer,,
what puzzels me is you say you can here the motor hum? is it a hum? or a buzz?? if its a buzz then its more likley to be the motor as its past its best and it needs if it needs a new motor as well, it would work out cheeper to buy a new tumble dryer

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOUR DRUM SUPPORT & BEARINGS HAVE GONE, WAS IT SQUEEKING & HAS DRUM DROPPED SLIGHTLY??
IF SO ID SAY THAT IT IS THIS MINE WENT WRONG A FEW MONTHS AGO, SO I TOOK IT TO BITS & IT WAS THE ABOVE PROBLEM, JUST AN IDEA OR YOUR MOTOR HAS PACKED UP, OR YOUR DRUM BELT HAS SNAPPED..

Make sure the belt is on with the grooves toward the motor pulley. They will probably be up on the drum. Check the belt and pulleys for grease- that's a no-no. Clean with a degreaser safe for rubber, like belt spray and a rag. Of course, don't overload the machine. Try the dryer empty. If it just does a little bump and won't spin, your run winding isn't getting power. There's a start-run switch on the motor you would have to check out. The start button probably just goes to the start winding, so that could be a good test.

Motor going bad. Run windings inside are burneded up.  Start windings are ok. replace motor.

my tumble dryer drum wont go round

Sounds like the wheel at the back of drum where belt goes has come loose should be allan key screw/nut to tighten up again.

Hopefully that is the end of your worries.
