google TravelMate reset BIOS password or "System Password". Some laptops have a button to push and hold somewhere on the laptop or under the keyboard. Others require going to a service center for a hard reset of the bios - no info will be lost on the hard drive. Also, some systems use a generic password like" "admin" or administrator etc.

In order to remove password an (educational) solution is to open your laptop back with a screwdriver carefully and remove the bios battery (its a small silver colored round one) and put it back after 5-10 minutes. Then you can close the laptop back and access the bios setup utiliy by pressing the f2 or the f number displayed on startup and replace or deactivate the password. Another solution is to use a backdoor password according to the manufacturer and deactivate the password (search googlefor it) or use a small software utility like !BIOS if i remember correctly to retrieve the password but it may take some time. I hope that helped!
You will need the BIOS password to enter the BIOS setup. To do a hardware reset remove the CMOS batteries for 30 minutes.
Once your BIOS password is removed, you will need to press the
<F2> key during POST (Power On Self Test) to enter the Acer BIOS
setup. After you
enter BIOS, go to the Boot tab and down to "Security" and make your
changes there. If you need help with the default password, please re-post your request. Thanks and good luck.
members have reported that they were able to remove their Acer BIOS passwords by simply opening their notebooks and removing the CMOS batteries for 30 minutes.

if that don't work, acer support charges 100.00 to reset the password, What a rip-off.
