Kitchenaid Superba Side by Side Fridge: a lot of water is leaking from the freezer side; we can't seem to locate the problem; our ice maker/water dispenser is not plugged it (we don't use it)... what else could be the problem (we were told to check the compressor, and coils, but we don't know where they are exactly). Freezer is cold (we hear a motor running)... but most of our food have defrosted and is causing the water leakage. Please help us.

How do I turn on the icemaker to my kitchenaid superba. It seems to have stopped making ice

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Discovered ice build up on bottom of freezer in side by side KitchenAid Superba. Figure it is a defrost drain clog.... How do clear the clog?

I have ice in the bottom of my freezer section also in an older one of these, but I have traced it down to some sort of leak in my ice maker line. It only occurs when the ice maker is making ice, and not when the ice tray is full. Mine also leaks through the front door seal and into the floor if I don't keep scraping out the ice from the bottom (to clear out the "reservoir" that holds the water till it turns to ice).

I came on this site looking for a way to locate the leak and get to it. You might try scraping out the ice and turning off the ice maker for a while and see if the ice no longer forms at the bottom. Then at least you have localized it a little!

My Fridge & freezer are not cooling. food thawed,Ice melted.

You may nee t to replace your compressor relay located on the compressor. If it is not the relay i would cheak the timer motor or timer board witch is almost always located in the fridge compartment. If not the timer you may have a seal system leak.If so i would replace fridge.

Ice on coils on back of freezer on Kitchenaid superba side byside

you have a defrost problem, could be several things ,first when you open freezer door do you hear the fan blowing,if not bad evap fan motor,if it's good check t-stat and heater, you'll need a meter to read them out, or if the wires are the plug in type going to t-stat unplug the t-stat and plug wire dirrectly to heater bypassing t-stat and if heater comes on get a new t-stat,also there is an adaptive defrost board located in the fridge side,if you find your tech sheet, take off kick plate and you should see it under the fridge taped on the kick plate or on the side and it will tell you how to get the fridge into defrost,i think you click the light switches 4 or 5 times together and it goes into defrost,if that's what the sheet says and it doesn't go into defrost it's probably the adaptive defrost whenyou find the part that is bad melt out all the ice with hair dryer, hope this helps

Kitchenaid ice maker dripping and freezing down freezer shelfs

Tube sometimes freezes because of minerals in it hold one droplet at a time until buildup freezes solid. Replace tube first. Water valve allowing some droplets through can also cause this. Tube first-less expensive.

Kitchenaid superba icemaker leaking/freezing in freezer section

Your water hose that connects to the back of the freezer may be loose. Move the fridge out away and in the back make sure it is tightend.

Drain pan leaking?

there is a drip pan located underneath you ref but most likely your prob is a plugged drain line coming from the freezer. when you ref goes into automatic def the water doesnt run out into the drip pan but instead onto your floor..

you can clean the drain line by removing the rear cover in the freezer compartment and using hot water to thaw the drain below the evap coil.
