Question about Dishwashers
My diswasher is making a loud humming noise when I turn it on. The last time I used it was to clean new dishes, and I suspect a price sticker may have come off. My husband is handy. Does he need to pull the diswasher out of the wall or how can he get to the pump? Any guidance you can give us would be appreciated. Thanks!
It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.

SOURCE: Loud Humming Noise
You're describing vague, conflicting information. At first glance, I would think you have something stuck in the pump. But then it would be there in the rinse-only cycle also.
The anti-bacterial mode heats the water up to about 180F. This kills bacteria, and it also speeds up the action of the detergent. It could be dissolving whatever is in there.
The humming noise wasn't there in the rinse mode... The heater isn't on in the rinse mode - everything else is. But I've NEVER heard a heating element hum.
Cleaning the filter:
The filter is in the back in the bottom right. It's cover is held on by two 1/4 in screws. Under that is a large grate, and I sometimes find stuff clogging the screen (underwater, toward the center of the machine.) I'd start by looking there.

if the water is not spraying you may have a seized up motor. if the water is spraying then you have something down in your motor somewhere..

Hi, I had this exact same problem. In my situation it turned out to be the pump that pumps out all of the used water. It was rubbing up against the floor so that every time it turned on it made a loud vibrating sound. I just reached under the washer and put a piece of rubber between it and the floor and it solved the problem.
I saw this post because I am considering buying the same model you have. Other than the noise problem you have, what do you think of it?
