Take the first phone off from the base and turned of.Unplug the power from the base. Put the second phone in the base. Plug in power in the base. The base must search the new " IP or code "of the second phone. Turn on now the first phone , you should hire a small beep on the base or the unit and should be OK. Both must working now. I wait for an answer.

Thank you for your solution, however, I don't know how to turn off the first phone! There is no on/off button on this model. So far no success.

I get a bunch of beeps before the dial tone

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

How do you setup voice mail on vtech model #ia5823 an retrieve messages

The IA5823 is not an answering machine. It will work with most telephone service providers' voice mail systems. You'll need to refer to the instructions from your service provider.

If you still have problems, please repost your question specifying your telephone service provider and if possible the name of the voice mail system.

How do I get the ringer to work? It was working fine until it was unplugged. It was given to me used so I don't know the exact model but it is a 5.8Ghz digital with the answering system. Thanks! Jim

Take a look at both the handset and the base. On one of them you should find a ringer on/off switch. It probably got bumped to the off position. Your model number should be on a label on the bottom or rear of the base unit. Owner's manuals for most phones are available from the manufacturer's website.

Phones stopped working. They only read

first step is to unplug all power and phone connections from the wall for all Vtech phones and bases.

Second, plug each set and base in the wall for power one at a time.

Go back to the basics and pair the handset with the base of the unit.

Do this for all sets one at a time.

Phones stopped working. They only read

I'm not familar with the Vtech but I would suspect that all 4 units work off of the answering machine base. It sounds like it is seeing a dial tone.
Take a working phones like the wall phone, if it is easily removed, and use a known good connecting cable between the good wall phone and the jack that the Vtech is plugged into.
If that works, take the connecting cable loose and replace it with the Vtech connecting cable. If that works check the jack on the Vtech for crossed wire. If non found, connect it to the jack the wall phone was plugged into. If this doesn't provide satisfaction, let me know exactly what you did and what happened and we will go from there.

Message light is blinking

call your new service provider and they will ask you a few questions to make sure it is the owner of the account.... then they will give you the pin number... i would suggest changing it to something you are familiar with the first time you access it.

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

Yes, I have had nothing but trouble with my V-Tech ia5823.
Slow to dial, dropping out going calls and now the base light is flashing at a rapid pace and will not charge the handset.
I want to return it to Wal-Mart but have misplaced the recepit.
I will never buy another V-Tech..Uniden is the way to go!
