Being six years old it's probably got a fair amount of crud built-up. I generally remove the print head, on printers that have this ability, and then clean with some qtips and 90% isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't fix it and a replacement print head is available then replace it. But consider the cost, as cheap as printers are these days you don't want to put a lot of money into a six year old printer when you can replace it just as cheaply.
The print haed is held in position with a locking lever and the ink cartridges are clipped into the printhead. Yes you can purchase a new print head BUT the cost of a print head is expensive. I suggest you put your money towards a new and better printer, it may not cost mush more that a new printhead if you can get one.
If the cartridge was left in it during an extended period of time (we'll say three months or longer) without use, it can damage the print head in a way that is irreparable. At four years old, unfortunately, it is probably cheaper to replace the printer than to have the head professionally repaired. Dry ink is the great enemy of inkjet printers.
If you clicked the cleaner multiple times with no luck, the only thing besides replacing the printer I would suggest would be to try another print cartridge. Unfortunately, if this isn't the problem you've just wasted whatever the cartridge costs. BUT if this unit directly touches the cartridge to the paper to print, it should repair the problem.
Three beeps means the print head is bad. They last 5-10 years. They are available as high-capacity black BC-10, or color, BC-11e. I occasionally sell them on ebay for about $20, user id yacare. If not currently listed, use contact seller to request one.
I think your print head is finally dead. I would purchase this from www.precisionroller.com by searching for "Canon BJC4100 Ink." You get the print head, a black cartridge, and a color cartridge for $67.50. I think you should spend the money to keep this printer running. A lot of the new printers are cheap, the print heads only last about two years, and replacing the print head costs more than the printer did.
Wow, that's a really old EPSON printer. The life expectancy of a EPSON printer is just three years, after that, the printer wouldn't work because of the clogged permanent printing head. The authorized service center is unable to repair it because the spares are no longer supplied. Throw it to a recycling center.
have a HP670 printer, about 4 years old. I have replaced one black cartridge with a Genuine HP replacement and even though there is still about 1/3 full of ink the print head appears to have blockages and is giving a poor quality print. I am thinking of upgrading to a new Canon S300 but wanted to stay with the HP a little longer until I work out just what printer we should buy.
I just bought a Calidad refill for the colour cartridge (first time replacement) but the colours are intermittent, as printed on the HP test printout. I have tried cleaning the heads, contacts and used the HP desktop control for print head cleaning many times but with no improvement. Is there some way to clean or soften the print head blockages, such as a sponge with water/method to keep the printer going or is it time to give up and chuck it? If I'm going to chuck it I might as well try anything, it may help other readers if it works!
I wouldn?t pay $180 to repair a printer with three or four year old technology. I?m sure there is a difference in printer costs in Panama but here in upstate New York you can pick up a new name brand photo printers that range between $100 and $200 and that comes with a warranty.
