Humming noise in Toshiba television

I have a loud humming noise in the Toshiba 46HM95 TV. I'm pretty sure it's the cooling fan as it starts right away as I turn on the TV, and continues for a period of time after turning it off until the unit indicates it's no longer "hot". I saw another post indicaitng the fan is only $50. Is this easy for a consumer to replace or am I better off scheduling service?

The TV is 2 plus years old, I've had 2 light bulbs replaced early on and now this. It would appear Toshiba TV's are junked based singularly from my experience, and would like to pursue reimbursement from Toshiba, but so far their Customer Service will do nothing. Please let me know if you can assist.

humming noise while tv is on and while tv is off not the cooling fan

Ditto. Same type of hum. Sadly, our tv is in a vacation house with no local service.

Is this something an owner could do on their own? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where would we get parts and how could we fix it? Thanks.

I was working on my color wheel and dropped it, unfortunately it shattered. Has anyone found replacement parts. If anyone is getting rid of an old color wheel (even if it is humming) let me know, I just need to get the color disk and don't want to purchase an entire light engine.

I have an older style Toshiba. It makes a really loud high pitched humming noise any time the screen seems to get bright, or show a light color. I can make the humming stop by setting the color prefrences on warm and by turning the contrast all the way down. The TV is then extremely dark and I want to know why this happens or how I can fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

My 46HM95 was humming also, I have the extended warranty and the company came out and diagnosed it as the light engine. the part was backordered and it was just fixed today, it was ordered back in February. Problem was solved.

Our TV is making a loud humming noise. We think

It's likely your color wheel rather then your fan. I've replaced quite a few of these and the fans are usually good. Get and estimate - I generally charge $250-350 Total
also google your model # and color wheel to investigate further.

Humming/buzzing sound

That could be either the ballast, or colorwheel. Does the sound get louder at the rear of the tv or louder in front. let me know I may be able to help you.

Toshiba 46HM95 Buzzing

I have the same thing, mine is the cooling fan for the lamp. If the sound continues for a short time after you turn off the TV then this is the most likely cause as the cooling fan will continue to run for a short time to cool off the bulb. I have looked into replacing mine, the part runs around $50 but I can't say yet how easy it is to replace yet.
