Try the following, one at a time.

- Remove battery then connect power cord, then power on
- Remove the memory modules then power on
- Remove the other optical drives, then power on
- Remove other components, then power on.

This process is to illiminate the faulty component. It is possible that one component is faulty and is causing shortage that's why your laptop won't power.

If this doesn't work then you need to remove the internal components like hdd.

Hope it helps.

Acer 4620 is dead

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

I've none of the above worked, try turning your laptop on without the use of a battery. So plugin your power cord and try that.

You can just have the power plug replaced. Cheap enough and easy to do. Although if you take it to a shop they will charge you a fortune to do it

The part will cost no more than £15.00

Look in the Power savings settings. Look in the Screen Saver (right click on the desktop), then Change Power Settings, then Change Advanced Settings. Scroll down to Wireless Adapter Settings. Check if the Power Savings Mode is set to Save power when plugged in. (I'm going be memory here; the names may be slightly different.)

I hope this helps.

MY ACER EXTENSA 4620 NOT GIVING ME BATTERY BACKUP its not so old its new

First of all try to run Laptop without the battery,if it works fine then your Adapter is OK. Second make sure the battery is fitted well. Third try using it with some other Laptop if it runs OK there then probably it's your Motherboard Problem otherwise you need to change the battery. Fourth battery's average lifespan is 1-2 yrs after that it gradually starts decreasing,if it's that old then again might be a battery problem. Fifth Battery oftens loose it's charge percentage due to overheating. Try all the steps and it will help.

Battery not charging

It could be the power cord if without the battery the laptop will not power up with the cord.

However, if it does power on, the power cord is fine and it could be a motherboard problem
