How do I fix the tape holder system on my camcorder? The door won't lock, and the cassette won't get inside the compartment.

hi,
is it close without a cassette ? if so the reel sensor in the cassette compartment may be faulty. if the head drum not rotates the cassette drive will not work correctly, if so please loosen the head drum with a plastic rod or some tools like that. do not put your finger in hence sometimes will jam your finger. remember don"t touch the scanning chip of the head.

How to fix sony camcorder with tape deck that won't close. camcorder squeals and ejects tape.

bit late...but. STOP ASAP! by removing the battery, after removing battery, wait 20 seconds, re-fit battery & CLOSE the cassette door.
then wait 10 seconds, slap the closed door twice quite firmly. then open, if it opens, discard that cassette tape, clean the players head using cleaning tape.
use new cassette tape.

From your question, it sounds like you are trying to view a video which has already been recorded on. If that is correct, the video cassette may need to be rewound to the beginning of the tape,

My sony trv37 cassette door won't close.

If this condition only occurs with as cassette inserted to load this may indicate a condition where the cylinder which holds the video heads is not spinning up when requested by the system control microprocessor.
If the door will not latch closed with/or without a cassette inserted this can indicated a mis-timed condition of the tape loading mechanism.
Try closing the door without a cassette loaded whilst the unit is powered from its AC Adaptor - under certain conditions this may allow the mechanism to reset and may allow the door to then close.
I trust that this information is of assistance! RHN

Cassette doesn't load and move down into machine

I had the same problem. With the camera on, keep taking the battery off and putting it back on. Start to close the door and then open it. Eventually you should hear it try to move. Keep doing it and it should move down all the way.

Cannot insert a tape

This just happened to me today, apparently in my case it has something to do with condensation inside the camera, I don't know if this applies to you but at the moment I have the cassette slot open and in the sun, hopefully it will help, two hours apparently should do it. Give it a go, it can't hurt, I wouldn't put the actual cassette in direct sunlight though, so make sure you take that out. Hope this Helps

Tape door wont close

I'm having a similar problem. The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV280. When you put a tape in the tray will not go down. However when the tray is empty and you push it shut it will go down. In other words the mechanism works fine without the tape but with the tape it doesn't. I hope the explanation is clear enough. Thanks
