I have a Hotpoint WD62 which intermittently trips the house main circuit breaker. Looking at other blogs I am lead to believe it could be the suppressor. Is this likely? And as also suggested elsewhere can this be bypassed to use the machine as a washer only. Thank you in advance for any help. Kind regards Nigel Lang

Hi John thank you for your reply, yes I think the envitable is upon me and I will as you say have to get an engineer to take a look. The fuse blew the first time we used the spin dryer after not using it for years. The fuse now blows intermittently at the end of the wash cycle even though we have not set the programme to continue into the dryer mode.
    Thanks again
    Nigel.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

It really depends upon at what point it trips the breaker. During washing, spinning, drying? If it is during drying don't use that cycle- it could be the dryer heating element. A supressor is normally used on the motor to supress the effect of sparking from the commutator/brushes so I doubt very much that it is that- it would probably trip immediately all the time. It could, however, be the motor itself which is malfunctioning particularly if the tripping happens around spin time. I do think you should call in an engineer, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
John C

Cofrimell Oasis slush machine keeps tripping out (circuit breaker).

Probably liquid has entered the mains supply and is tripping it out.
Take it apart and replace all damaged/contaminated items.
Or
it could be a worn mains lead inside.
Take a look.

How to replace a fuse in a hotpoint

Check the circuit breaker for the plug the dryer uses. Open your house power panel and locate the breaker for the dryer. It will be 2 breakers connected together by a metal pin so when one trips it will trip the other. This shuts off 240 volts. Sometimes only one breaker will trip without tripping the other one. This leaves the dryer with 115 volts to work the rest of the machine but won't power the heating element. Replacing the breaker will fix the dryer.

I have a bosch dishwasher model # I believe is SHX4AP05UC it keeps tripping my braker in the middle of washing wont complete a cycle any suggestions?

Adam, in order to help you, you must provide me with more info. What size breaker is tripping. What does the maufactor's manual reads about what size circuit it must be plugged into. If your house is a little old you probably have a 10 amp breaker that is tripping. If so than the manufaturer states theat it is recomamded to place it onto a 20 amp breaker. Only switch out the 10 map breaker to a 20 amp breaker if your the wire from the breaker is a 12 gauge wire.
Do not put a 20 amp breaker onto a 14 guage wire because it will most likely melt the insulation due to heat whichwill expose the bare copper wire which could lead to burning your house down.

Clothes Dryer tripping house circuit breaker

If it is breaking the main circuit of the house there is something wrong. It should throw the breaker to the dryer only. It sounds like you are having a problem with a short between the main breaker and sub panel in the house. Is there any way you can move the breaker in the panel to a different place on the same panel to see if it is that circuit only. If not check the outlet and the plug on the dryer and make sure the wiring is connected correctly.

LG S36AHP-UD7 Split Air Con. won't turn on.

Generally when an ac trips the main breaker and the breaker its self isn't bad, the compressor is going bad or is bad. To check you will need to do an ohms test on the compressor. If you get a reading of less than infinite, then the compressor is bad. You will need to test every lead going to the compressor which is usually 3 unless you have a crank house heater installed but they are not typical on a small unit. If the compressor has gone bad it is possible the it took the board out as well.

Hotpoint Aquarius wd640p

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.
