HP fax 1020

When receiving faxes, must always manually guide paper through. Otherwise, roller will not catch paper and error message flashes load paper at which point I depress start button and hand feed it in......does this roller need to be replaced due to the loss of friction? Please inform. Thanks.

PULLING THE PAPER IN WHILE FAXING OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK

it is a dust problem on the pinch rollers which dragin and roll the paper out.
a servicing is required . please also try to load more paper as some times the more paper you load , the easier the dragging in of paper is
single paper inserting for a fax gives such problems . also quality of paper for fax must be the one recommed by the fax company ..using another quality paper will make the paper jam.

Busy, try later error won't go away

depending what rollers and how you did it, you probably have 'spun' a clutch out of position so it can't find it's 'home" position, and keeps on trying. If it worked before cleaning and now it doesn't you've definitely broken or dislodged something like that.

Will not fax or copy - Given error light

The thermal roll is basically a roll of 'carbon' like paper that is used to transfer the image to your paper (terrible technolgy, and a massive waste of money for the end user....but that's another story)...it likely needs replacing -it's only good for 300-400 pages.

Fax display screen always reads, "Auto receive". When attempting to fax, the busy light flashes. Busy light stops flashing for 30 seconds, then starts flashing again.
Above is the default settings for the fax.

NGB0 indicates signal error or line condition error.
U need to check the phone line. U can hook any single line phone to the phone line, check for tones without background noise.

From manual: Insert document; press Scan & Fax button; dial number; press Start/Copy.  All pages will be scanned, number will be dialed, and scan will be transmitted.  If Memory Full displays, repeat procedure without using Scan & Fax button.

I can neither send or receive faxes

hi 003 - Recording paper jammed when feeding from the 3rd cassette. Remove the jammed paper. (1) Open the Printer Cover. (2) Remove the jammed paper. (3) Slide out the Paper Cassette. (4) Remove the jammed or wrinkled paper and reload the recording paper into the paper cassette. Caution: Make sure that the paper is set under the clips of the Paper Cassette. You can load about 500 sheets with standard weight paper (20 lb. or 75 g/m2). good luck
